Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • An associate's degree in occupational health and safety or management, or at least one year of experience in a health and safety role, is required.
  • Industry-recognized certifications such as OSHA 500, Certified Safety and Health Official, Certified Health and Safety Technician, or Safety Trained Supervisor–Construction are required or expected.
  • Candidates must be able to climb stairs and structures, stand for extended periods, pass a pulmonary fit test, complete computer-based training while seated for extended periods, read effectively from a computer screen or paper copy, and communicate effectively verbally.
  • Candidates must work outside or in plant environments and may be exposed to all weather conditions and hazardous chemicals.
  • Candidates must pass a negative 10-panel urinalysis and breath alcohol test, hold a valid driver's license, provide proof of United States citizenship, and score 2 or less in a DISA background screen.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee and enforce safety measures on active construction projects.
  • Inspect work areas, materials, equipment, and employee work habits for compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations and company procedures.
  • Identify and mitigate workplace health and safety hazards.
  • Support project teams with safe work processes, including Job Safety Analyses, Task Hazard Analyses, and Safe Work Procedures.
  • Enforce company safety policies and procedures at job sites.
  • Respond quickly and efficiently to emergency situations.
  • Maintain safety documentation and records.
  • Monitor and investigate near-miss incidents.
  • Conduct internal and customer-site safety audits and inspections and participate in incident investigations.
  • Collaborate with the Safety Manager and leadership to analyze trends and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead and organize on-site safety meetings and ensure personnel compliance.
  • Provide safety expertise to employees, subcontractors, and clients throughout projects.
  • Serve as the primary contact for risk and safety program administration.
  • Assist in executing the company's overall risk and safety strategy.
  • Pursue ongoing professional safety training and education.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
