Requirements
  • A qualified nursing faculty member must have an earned master's degree in nursing from a regionally accredited institution, be a Registered Nurse licensed in Indiana, and have two years of directly related work experience.
  • The candidate must have strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to the area of instruction and meet faculty credentials outlined in the applicable academic support and operations manual.
  • The candidate must demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of college students and employees.
Responsibilities
  • Provide instruction for classes, labs, and clinicals within the Associate of Science in Nursing program.
  • Assist academic administrators with curriculum development, student advising, and program enrollment.
  • Provide institutional support and community service.
  • Deliver assigned classes using pedagogy and technology that support student learning and align with course objectives and program learning outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain curriculum and supporting course materials.
  • Maintain student records, attendance, grades, and other required documentation.
  • Manage a classroom environment conducive to student learning and compliant with federal, state, and college safety standards and practices.
  • Facilitate student achievement of expected program learning outcomes.
  • Use a learning management system, such as Ivy Learn or Canvas, to facilitate teaching, learning, assessment, and communication.
  • Provide academic coaching and academic monitoring to assigned student advisees in partnership with professional academic advising staff.
  • Monitor and document student performance, provide interventions, communicate with students, coordinate tutoring and academic supports, and refer students to appropriate college resources.
  • Maintain posted office hours and student engagement hours in accordance with campus expectations and faculty loading policy.
  • Promote and assist in student recruitment, retention, and successful program completion through phone, technology tools, and electronic communication.
  • Participate in professional development, scheduled training, related business and industry activities, and self-study to advance instructional and technical skills and current field knowledge.
  • Participate in scholarly activities related to the discipline and fulfill annual performance plans, certification, and licensure requirements.
  • Stay current in contemporary pedagogy, digital technology, and technology related to teaching.
  • Participate in community service activities on behalf of the college.
  • Develop community, industry, and business contacts to advance college relationships within the service area.
  • Provide institutional support requested by college administration, including committees, task forces, accreditation projects, and grant-related projects.
  • Support and engage with Corporate College and Ivy Tech Foundations.
  • Attend commencement and participate in assignments from regional administration.
  • Participate in college-wide, campus-wide, departmental, divisional, and faculty meetings.
  • Participate in career service and alumni activities.
  • Support the program or department chair in program management activities.
  • Adhere to college and regional academic policies.
  • Complete other duties logically associated with the position as assigned.
  • Conduct all responsibilities within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
