Requirements
  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Current certification as a nursing assistant in the State of Florida.
  • HIV/AIDS training in accordance with state guidelines.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English in an understandable manner and carefully follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift, and move intermittently throughout the workday.
Responsibilities
  • Provide personal care and assistance to residents, including dressing, grooming, bathing, oral care, nail care, skin care, feeding, and toileting care.
  • Assist residents with ambulation, transfers, walking, wheelchairs, and orthopedic appliances.
  • Answer call lights and deliver messages, and care for residents’ valuables and other property.
  • Make beds, change linens, clean equipment, and maintain orderly utility rooms, linen closets, and storage cabinets.
  • Collect, bag, and transport soiled linen to designated utility and bathing areas.
  • Provide preventative care, including decubitus-ulcer prevention, range-of-motion exercises, and mental and physical stimulation.
  • Perform instructed treatments and procedures, including obtaining vital signs and weight, applying restraints, postmortem care, and isolation techniques.
  • Assist with activity programs and transport residents to outside activities or for walks.
  • Maintain infection control and universal precautions.
  • Clean residents’ bedrooms, living areas, shift bathrooms, kitchens, tables, and dining areas.
  • Perform laundry duties, including washing, folding, and putting away laundry.
  • Assist with admitting, discharging, and transferring residents.
  • Observe and report changes in residents’ physical and emotional condition to the Charge Nurse.
  • Attend staff meetings, classes, ongoing in-service programs, and at least eighteen hours of in-service education per year.
  • Support the facility’s goals and objectives and perform other assigned duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • Current CPR card.
