Responsibilities
Operate drill rigs and oversee drilling operations for auger borings, standard penetration test sampling, rock coring, monitoring well installations, infiltration testing, and other required drilling.
Collect field data according to specifications and job instructions.
Train and supervise the drilling assistant at the drilling site.
Meet production requirements and utilization goals.
Communicate with project managers, inspectors, clients, and supervisors as required.
Perform routine maintenance and repairs and maintain the general condition of drill rigs and other equipment.
Promote and adhere to safe work practices, including using required personal protective equipment and complying with site safety plans.
Operate Department of Transportation-regulated vehicles and fulfill related compliance responsibilities under federal, state, and local regulations, including record keeping and equipment inspections.
Travel as required, including occasional weekends and extended periods.
Desired Qualifications
At least 2 years of experience in a similar role is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to operate track-mounted drill rigs for geotechnical sampling, including coring, hollow- and solid-stem augering, and split-spoon sampling, is preferred.
A commercial driver’s license is a plus.
GFT is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Driller to work with our drilling crews for geotechnical, environmental and structural subsurface projects. This role is located in Ebensburg, PA.

What you'll be challenged to do:
As a Geotechnical Driller you will be focused on a wide variety of geotechnical and/or environmental projects. The ideal candidate is a self-starting and motivated individual who can perform with minimal supervision, a team player, and one who takes pride in their work.
In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
Operation drill rig(s) and oversight of drilling operations for auger borings, standard penetration test (SPT) sampling, rock coring, monitoring well installations, infiltration testing and other types of drilling, as required.
Collection of field data as required by specifications and/or job instructions.
Training and supervision of drilling assistant on the drilling site.

Operation of DOT regulated vehicles and all responsibilities as required to stay in compliance with Federal, State and Local regulations, including record keeping and equipment inspections.
Travel is required, including occasional weekends and extended periods. All travel expenses, including travel time, are paid.
Valid PA Driver’s License and clean driving record

Demonstrated ability to operate track and track mounted drill rigs for geotechnical sampling including coring; hollow and solid-stem augering; split-spoon sampling; etc.
CDL License a plus
Compensation:The hourly range for this role is $23.00 - $30.00 per/hour. The hourly range is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
