Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Emergency Management or another applicable field is required.
  • Experience and knowledge working within the Incident Command Framework at state or federal levels are required.
  • Experience with financial management applications is required.
  • Experience working in an Emergency Operations Center or disaster response, including at least two activations or exercises in a supervisory or key support capacity, is required.
  • The ability to make critical decisions in a highly charged and dynamic environment is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel, is required.
  • The following training courses must be completed before requesting the task book: IS-100, IS-200, ICS-300, ICS-400, IS-700, IS-800, E/G/L-0191, E/L-0958, and O-0305.
  • Strong familiarity with state and local governments is required.
  • The ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing is required.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive customer and internal information is required.
  • The ability to work on-site, travel, and deploy to client sites for extended periods is required.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
  • Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States without employer-sponsored visa support.
  • Applicants must pass company and applicable client background and reference checks upon offer of employment.
  • Applicants must be able to work 12-hour days, including evenings and weekends when required.
  • Applicants must be able to work on-site, including mobility, prolonged sitting or standing, computer work, and repetitive lifting of up to 25 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Establish operational objectives for the State Emergency Response Team through the action-planning process alongside the SERT Chief and Planning Chief.
  • Coordinate priority missions and resource deployment with Operations Section Branch Directors.
  • Collaborate with the AHIMT Unit Leader to deploy requested teams and manage mutual-aid requests.
  • Identify resource needs beyond state-agency inventories and communicate them to the Logistics Section Chief.
  • Coordinate with SERT field staff to ensure operational objectives meet local needs.
  • Deploy and maintain communication with liaisons in affected areas through the SERT Field Operations Branch Director.
  • Participate in Incident Action Plan meetings and provide an operational perspective.
  • Conduct operational meetings with Branch Directors and Emergency Support Functions to resolve response issues and maintain coordination with the Plans, Logistics, and Finance and Administration Section Chiefs.
  • Manage tactical incident activities and oversee Incident Action Plan implementation.
  • Translate agency leadership decisions into action and manage and coordinate those efforts with responders.
  • Explain the status of field operations and make recommendations and projections by the end of the operation.
  • Participate in developing and implementing a transition plan based on escalating incident complexity.
  • Supervise development of Operations Section contingency plans for the incident.
  • Coordinate effective collaboration between state and local response agencies to achieve operational objectives.
Desired Qualifications
  • Five or more years of professional experience in emergency management.
  • A master's degree in Emergency Management or a related field.
  • Certified Emergency Manager certification.
  • Proficiency with WebEOC.
  • Incident Command System position-specific certification.
