About the job
- Graduation from a recognized bachelor's degree program in Recreation Therapy, Leisure Studies, Recreation Administration, or a related field.
- Current and active registration in the Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association is required.
- Current and active Basic Life Support Provider cardiopulmonary resuscitation is required.
- Employees must use employer-provided technologies, devices, resources, and systems in accordance with Carewest policy and procedure.
- Adherence to applicable privacy legislation and best practices, including the Health Information Act, Access to Information Act, Protection of Privacy Act, and InfoCare Behaviours, is required.
- Successful applicants not currently working for Carewest must provide a suitable police records check and vulnerable sector screen.
- Successful applicants may need to provide immunization records for positions in certain environments.
- Assess recreation and leisure needs of clients and residents.
- Develop treatment plans and provide or coordinate therapeutic programs and activities to meet client needs.
- Assist with the orientation, supervision, and evaluation of support staff, students, and volunteers as requested.
- Maintain professional and ethical standards in accordance with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association Standards of Practice, Carewest's Frame of Reference, Philosophy of Care, and policies.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist designation is an asset.
- Three years of recreation therapy experience is preferred.
- Experience using a broad range of Recreation Therapy interventions with a variety of client populations is an asset.
