Requirements
  • One to two or more years of experience working with the senior population is preferred, with three or more years of activity engagement experience with the senior population preferred.
  • Activity Director Certification is required.
  • Ability to communicate consistently with joy, compassion, patience, and professionalism toward residents, resident families and loved ones, third-party contractors and vendors, and community associates.
  • Ability to generate interest, excitement, and enthusiasm about community activities and events.
  • Ability to use basic technology systems.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
Responsibilities
  • Advocate for and promote Life Enrichment services throughout the community while creating and maintaining a culture of engagement.
  • Encourage residents to participate in daily activities and engagement opportunities and minimize barriers to participation.
  • Assist the Life Enrichment department with administrative tasks such as copying, typing memoranda, and answering phones.
  • Create, manage, coordinate, implement, and evaluate Life Enrichment calendars, department programming, newsletters, and digital displays.
  • Lead and assist with group and one-on-one activity programs.
  • Escort residents to and from activities.
  • Drive the community bus for Life Enrichment outings and resident medical appointments while following transportation safety guidelines, including assisting residents on and off the vehicle, securing assistive devices, and properly using the emergency contact list binder.
  • Complete documentation such as service plan assessments, progress notes, and activity attendance and participation records in compliance with state and federal regulations and Ministry standards.
  • Use the community engagement system and community medical records system.
  • Attend and participate in stand-up meetings, care plans, in-services, resident council, Life Enrichment department meetings, and other meetings as needed.
  • Coordinate and support supply ordering and inventory based on department needs.
  • Assist with volunteer engagement and maintenance of the community pet where applicable.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and neat environment for residents and activity engagement spaces.
  • Set up and clean up programs before and after scheduled and unscheduled activities.
  • Support setup and cleanup of seasonal, celebratory, and holiday community décor.
  • Involve residents and family members in planning activities, community holidays, events, and decorating.
  • Complete continuing education through the Relias platform and other required department and community training.
  • Help lead training for new associates within the department.
  • Support hiring initiatives for the department.
  • Train and coach non-department associates on programs and best practices to maintain a culture of engagement throughout the community.
  • Create and maintain Life Enrichment department associate work schedules.
  • Support performance enhancements, annual reviews, and terminations in conjunction with the department leader and Human Resources.
  • Lead special department projects and events.
  • Support all levels of care as needed.
  • Comply with policies, procedures, and updates and perform other assigned duties.
