Requirements
  • Sufficient education to obtain a valid California RN license.
  • Six months to one year of experience as a Clinical RN I at MarinHealth Medical Center, or the clinical experience identified in the applicable unit-specific job description addendum.
  • A California RN license is required at hire.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required at hire.
  • Integrative Agitation Management training is required within 30 days of hire.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in all items of the Staff Nurse Skills Criteria by the end of the probationary period.
  • Demonstrate leadership and delegation skills.
  • Demonstrate oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to organize and prioritize work and manage time.
  • Work collaboratively with team members, other teams, physicians, and departments.
  • Read, speak, write, understand, and follow English verbal and written instructions.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and service appropriate to the age and needs of patients in the assigned service area.
  • Meet required measles, mumps, varicella, and annual influenza immunization requirements, subject to applicable exemptions.
Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care; direct and appropriately delegate to ensure safe, quality care.
  • Formulate nursing diagnoses by observing the patient's physical condition and behavior and interpreting information from the patient and others, including the health team.
  • Develop age-specific care plans in collaboration with patients to provide direct and indirect nursing care that supports safety, comfort, hygiene, protection, disease prevention, and restorative measures.
  • Perform nursing skills required for the care provided, explain health treatment to patients and families, and teach them how to address health needs.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of care plans by observing patient condition, behavior, illness signs and symptoms, treatment reactions, and communicating with patients and team members; modify plans as needed.
  • Advocate for patients by initiating action to improve care or change decisions or activities contrary to their interests or wishes, and support informed health care decisions.
  • Supervise, direct, and delegate appropriately to care team members, assigning tasks according to their legal scopes of practice, preparation, and capabilities, and supervise the nursing care provided.
  • Serve as a clinical expert, role model, and clinical and educational resource to the team, patients, and families.
  • Maintain professional accountability for nursing practice.
