Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Zero to one year of related work experience is required.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, follow detailed instructions, and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in conditions involving odors, heat, and humidity and routinely lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must not have an animal allergy that would affect the ability to work with laboratory animals.
  • Basic computer familiarity and ability to navigate web-based applications.
  • Ability to read and write English to understand basic safety instructions and take direction from supervisors, and ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and medical center staff.
  • Ability to understand spoken English to follow basic safety instructions, take direction from supervisors, and respond to routine questions.
  • Ability to demonstrate basic knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures in routine situations.
  • Ability to interact respectfully with employees, professional staff, and external contacts to offer ideas, identify issues, obtain information, or deliver services.
  • Ability to demonstrate a positive attitude and respond to requests in a timely and respectful manner.
  • Must receive influenza vaccination as a condition of employment.
Responsibilities
  • Process animal cage components and related equipment through mechanical cage, bottle, rack, or tunnel washers according to standard operating procedures and applicable laboratory-animal care guidelines.
  • Use temperature assurance indicators to verify sanitation and immediately report failures to the supervisor.
  • Process waste bedding material using a vacuum bedding disposal or HEPA-filtered bedding disposal unit while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Operate mechanical cage-wash units according to department procedures and manufacturer instructions and immediately report deficiencies.
  • Stage cage components into units using appropriate bedding and enrichment material.
  • Ensure cage components are in excellent working condition and immediately report defects to the supervisor.
  • Operate steam autoclaves to sterilize equipment as required.
  • Use cycle assurance indicators to verify sterilization and record results on the Autoclave Assurance Log.
  • Immediately report sterilization failures to the supervisor.
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of and experience operating mechanical cage-wash equipment.
  • Familiarity with and experience maintaining a clean and sanitary environment for animals.

Beth Israel Lahey Health rolls out Heidi's AI scribing to all physicians after 90% report better patient presence

Beth Israel Lahey Health is rolling out Heidi's ambient AI scribing tool to all its physicians following a successful trial across its facilities. The health system, which serves over 6,000 providers across 14 hospitals and 175 primary care practices, prioritises addressing physician burnout, with nearly half of US physicians reporting burnout. During a six-month trial offering Heidi to 1,000 providers, the majority adopted the technology. Survey results showed 89% were satisfied with note quality, 90% felt more present with patients, 74% reduced after-hours work time, and 82% experienced reduced cognitive load during visits. The implementation demonstrates how ambient AI can deliver immediate relief to physicians whilst benefiting patients and the healthcare system. Heidi supports over 2 million consultations weekly globally and has raised $96.6 million from investors including Point72 Private Investments and Blackbird.
