Requirements
  • A bachelor's or graduate degree, ideally in a technical field.
  • At least five years of relevant work experience.
  • Proficiency with object-oriented programming.
  • Proficiency with scripting languages such as Python.
  • Ability to build and test distributed software and/or hardware systems.
  • Ability to lead anomaly investigation activities involving multiple experts.
Responsibilities
  • Design test plans and test procedures to validate and verify spacecraft software and hardware, including rocket engines, inertial measurement units, star trackers, radar systems, sun sensors, thermal controllers, lidar, and guidance, navigation, and control algorithms for autonomous lunar navigation and landing.
  • Develop software testing infrastructure and tests that verify spacecraft systems across platforms using varying combinations of emulators and spacecraft hardware.
  • Improve software testing infrastructure to support developer and automated testing needs and strengthen integration between developers and testers.
  • Execute test procedures manually when multi-million-dollar spacecraft hardware is involved and report regressions.
  • Expand autonomous nightly tests across a continuous integration pipeline and different test platforms to increase coverage across systems.
  • Write bug tickets for software issues identified during verification.
  • Develop automated reporting tools and mechanisms that map failed and passed tests to subsystem-level requirements.
  • Benchmark and analyze spacecraft system performance across all flight modes.
  • Identify and resolve anomalous software behavior.
  • Work with developers, engineers, and technicians to solve problems found while testing the spacecraft software system.
  • Manage and schedule test regressions and test resources.
  • Manage test software repositories for multiple projects.
  • Perform acceptance tests and trace tested features back to requirements.
  • Collect, analyze, and present test metrics.
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of formal software verification and validation processes.
  • Proficiency with software configuration management tools such as Git.
  • Experience with containers such as Docker and virtual machines such as QEMU.
  • Experience with Linux and other embedded operating systems.
  • Familiarity with coding safety standards such as MISRA-C.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols including CCSDS, Ethernet, RS-422, TCP/IP, I2C, QAM, RS-232, SpaceWire, CAN, GPIO, IPC, MIL-1553, and RS-485.
  • Familiarity with electronic test equipment including oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers.
  • Familiarity with electrical circuit dynamics.
  • Familiarity with environmental testing such as EMC/EMI and thermal-vacuum testing.
  • Familiarity with spacecraft-related systems including multi-degree-of-freedom spacecraft controls, thermal systems, radio-frequency communications systems, avionics systems, and power systems.
