Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science engineering degree from an accredited college or university.
  • A Professional Engineer license.
  • At least 10 years of experience in mechanical building design, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and project or employee management.
  • Strong technical systems design and engineering ability.
  • Experience with Revit software.
  • Strong work ethic and solid organizational skills.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and work as part of the division’s design team across higher education and healthcare building engineering projects.
  • Develop and manage complex design projects involving mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Lead and grow mechanical design teams.
  • Develop project proposals, project plans, manpower plans, budgets, and schedules; negotiate fees, change orders, and contracts; and manage overall quality assurance and quality control.
  • Provide project management guidance and technical direction to mechanical engineers and designers.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Act as a liaison between the client, other design professionals, and the design team.
  • Develop and maintain correspondence among the design team, the client, and other design professionals.
  • Ensure timely and complete information flow to the appropriate individuals and teams.
  • Perform advanced engineering calculations.
  • Provide code and design expertise and analysis on complex projects within the relevant technical area.
  • Own projects and stamp and sign mechanical drawings as the engineer of record.
  • Design HVAC systems.
  • Design plumbing systems.
  • Design performance-based fire protection systems.
  • Perform code analysis.
  • Perform energy modeling.
  • Design lab and medical gas systems.
  • Prepare LEED and Green Globes documentation.
  • Perform life-cycle cost analysis.
Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with IESVE software for building performance simulation.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office software.
  • LEED certification or experience in sustainable design.
  • Specification writing experience.
  • Cost estimating experience.
