The completion of the transaction is expected to close during the second quarter of 2027. CEO'S COMMENTS Essity's development in the third quarter was characterized by stability and resilience in a challenging market. Profitability remained good despite intensifying cost headwinds, and cash flow was strong. Volumes were stable, and Essity strengthened its market positions in several strategic segments, demonstrating the competitiveness of its business. At the same time, the Group's sales development was not at the level Essity is aiming for, and Essity continue its efforts to accelerate profitable growth and offset higher costs through price increases and efficiency improvements. Cost savings were delivered according to plan, investments in marketing and customer offerings are yielding results, and sales prices were higher than in the second quarter of this year. Health & Medical delivered organic growth and good profitability during the quarter. Incontinence Products continued to grow, and the sales development in Medical Solutions was positive, with good growth in wound care. Sales in Personal Care also performed well, supported by continued high growth and increased market shares in Incontinence Products and Feminine Care. Consumer Tissue had lower sales due to lower volumes, primarily driven by optimization of the production footprint in Latin America, and price reductions in previous quarters. In Professional Hygiene, profitability remained solid, although volume development was not satisfactory. The decline was concentrated to the base assortment and smaller distributors which were more affected by the weaker market. However, Essity continued to grow in strategic products and increased sales to its larger distributors and customers. Product launches and price increases During the quarter, Essity launched new and improved products across several categories to further strengthen its offering. For example, Essity expanded its range of compression garments with JOBST(R) Elvarex(R) Soft ready-to-wear, allowing Essity to reach patients more quickly. Essity continued to actively work on price increases to offset higher costs, and all business areas reported higher sales prices compared with the second quarter. "Our focus is on translating strong market positions into profitable growth" Another acquisition in feminine care During the quarter, Essity took another step forward in its strategy to grow in attractive, value-creating categories by entering into an agreement to acquire Kenvue's feminine care business in Brazil. The acquisition includes the market-leading brands Carefree, Sempre Livre and o.b., and strengthens Essity's position in feminine care in Latin America. Brazil represents a significant growth opportunity in hygiene and health, where Essity already hold a leading position in incontinence products with TENA. This acquisition follows its previous feminine care acquisition in North America and represents another concrete step in the expansion of its feminine care business, where Essity has a proven track record of success and see good potential for profitable growth. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close in the second quarter of 2027. Strategic review of Consumer Tissue The strategic review of Consumer Tissue is proceeding according to plan. Essity has assessed the conditions for a separation and are now ready to move forward with evaluating the value creation potential of the different strategic alternatives - a separation or Consumer Tissue remaining part of Essity. The ambition is to identify the alternative that provides the best opportunity for both Consumer Tissue and Essity to reach their full potential and maximize long-term value creation. Focus on higher growth Its focus is on translating strong market positions into profitable growth. Essity continue to prioritize investments where Essity see the greatest opportunities to grow and create value, while improving efficiency and addressing increasing cost headwinds through pricing and cost measures. In parallel, Essity continue to develop its portfolio. Essity has clear priorities and will now ensure that its initiatives have a greater impact on the Group's growth and profitability. Ahlstrom, Essity, and Midstrom collaborate to advance bioCO[2] value chains.

Ahlstrom, Essity, and Midstrom collaborate to advance bioCO[2] value chains. Oct 13, 2026 - 10:27 Backed by InnoEnergy, a European impact fund, Midstrom is deploying a "Build-Own-Operate" model; the company finances and manages the entire infrastructure chain, removing financial risk from emitters while guaranteeing bankable, industrial-scale supply of this critical feedstock. As a first step, the partners have launched feasibility studies at Essity's Lilla Edet mill and Ahlstrom's Billingsfors mill to assess technical, logistical and commercial requirements for carbon capture and utilisation (CCU). Connecting Swedish bioCO[2] with European demand. The collaboration brings together industrial emitters and value-chain development expertise to explore how bioCO2 from Swedish pulp and paper mills could be connected with growing European demand. By working with two established pulp and paper producers, Midstrom is taking an important step toward developing scalable and commercially viable bioCO2 value chains. BioCO[2] can be used as a feedstock for synthetic fuels and chemicals or permanently stored to generate carbon dioxide removals (CDR). Pulp and paper mills represent a significant potential source, but many individual sites lack the scale, infrastructure, and commercial arrangements needed to bring it to market. Midstrom was created to address this gap. Its model aggregates bioCO[2] from multiple industrial sites and connects those volumes with companies seeking (bio)CO[2] for electro-fuel (eFuel) production or carbon storage. By scaling across several sites, Midstrom aims to reduce the infrastructure, market, and regulatory barriers that many individual emitters face when seeking to bring bioCO[2] to market. This approach can help reduce the risks associated with developing new CO[2] value chains, allowing industrial companies to evaluate opportunities without having to navigate evolving markets on their own. Biogenic carbon dioxide is becoming a strategic feedstock for Europe's energy transition, but connecting dispersed industrial emitters that lack the scale, infrastructure, or market access with the emerging demand remains a significant challenge. Collaborating with Essity and Ahlstrom allows Renewable Focus to work directly with leading industrial companies to explore how biogenic CO[2] can be brought to market and helps Renewable Focus further develop Midstrom's model for building scalable value chains, said Jeremiah Dutton, Midstrom Venture Lead at InnoEnergy. Testing the model at two industrial sites. Essity's Lilla Edet mill, near Gothenburg, produces tissue using a largely fossil-free energy supply, making the CO[2] in its flue gases predominantly biogenic. The study will assess the technical and operational implications of adding carbon capture at a site that has already significantly reduced fossil emissions. Through this collaboration, Renewable Focus can explore how biogenic carbon dioxide from its operations could contribute to emerging low-carbon value chains while creating potential new opportunities for the mill, said Johan Langren, Supply Chain Sustainability, Essity Health Care. Ahlstrom's Billingsfors mill in western Sweden produces specialty papers and offers a different industrial setup and scale, providing an opportunity to assess carbon capture integration in another manufacturing environment. Renewable Focus see value in exploring emerging opportunities linked to CO[2] and carbon capture. A "collaboration" with Midstrom is a good way to assess these opportunities and get a grip on what could be possible for both its Billingsfors mill and potentially other sites in the future, said Rune Årnes, VP Health, Safety and Environment, Ahlstrom Group. In parallel with the site studies, InnoEnergy is working with actors across the carbon capture, transport, utilisation and storage value chain to assess potential routes from Swedish industrial sites to European customers and permanent storage. The feasibility studies will determine the technical, logistical and commercial requirements needed to capture, transport and market bioCO[2] from the two mills, while assessing the long-term viability of scalable CO[2] value chains.
