Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, piping engineering, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 5–7 years of proven experience as a piping mechanical engineer on power combined-cycle gas turbine or engineering, procurement, and construction projects is required.
  • Strong knowledge of turbine systems, heat recovery steam generators, balance-of-plant systems, cooling water systems, and auxiliary equipment is required.
  • Strong knowledge of piping engineering principles, practices, and standards is required.
  • Proficiency in piping design software and computer-aided design tools is required.
  • The candidate must have project management and communication skills and be able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
  • Review and monitor the engineering, procurement, and construction contractor's piping design deliverables, including isometrics, general arrangement drawings, stress analysis, and material specifications, as well as design elements of gas and steam turbines, heat recovery steam generators, condensers, pumps, valves, and auxiliary mechanical equipment.
  • Ensure that piping design complies with applicable project codes and standards, including ASME, ASTM, and EN.
  • Validate technical solutions for pipe supports, routing, and interfaces with equipment and structures.
  • Supervise piping fabrication and erection activities on site.
  • Ensure adherence to approved drawings, quality plans, and installation procedures.
  • Review the contractor's method statements and inspection and test plans.
  • Participate in inspections and witness testing, including hydrotests, flushing, and nondestructive testing.
  • Monitor construction quality, report non-conformances, and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Enforce safety practices and participate in toolbox talks and site safety walks.
  • Track piping activity progress and identify and escalate delays or risks.
  • Coordinate interfaces between piping systems and civil, mechanical, and electrical disciplines.
  • Support resolution of site technical queries and construction issues.
  • Review and comment on as-built documentation, test reports, and turnover packages.
  • Ensure that documentation is maintained for project close-out and commissioning readiness.
  • Prepare weekly progress reports highlighting key risks, issues, and achievements.
  • Accept responsibility for personal safety and share responsibility with fellow workers and line supervision for workplace safety.
  • Participate constructively in project health, safety, security, and environment activities.
  • Work safely and contribute to the implementation of the Incident and Injury Free philosophy.
  • Stop unsafe acts or behaviors and report them to the line supervisor or manager.
  • Take reasonable care of personal safety and the safety of other personnel affected by workplace acts or omissions.
  • Cooperate with the employer to maintain a safe and healthy workplace.
  • Report workplace hazards, incidents, injuries, accidents, and near misses immediately to health, safety, security, and environment staff.
  • Correctly use, store, and maintain personal protective equipment issued for workplace hazards.
  • Follow verbal and written safe-work procedures, practices, directions, work instructions, and permit requirements.
  • Observe warning signs and notices.
  • Attend toolbox meetings, other required health, safety, security, and environment meetings, and scheduled relevant training courses.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Professional Engineer license is highly desirable.
