Scheduled Work Hours/Shift: Nights; Monday-Friday. 6:30p-7a. No call.

Job Summary/Purpose:  Under general supervision, the RN - Charge Nurse manages the daily operational oversight to ensure effective delivery of patient care. This position interacts with members of the healthcare team to achieve desired results. The RN – Charge Nurse consistently models excellence in patient care and contributes to unit leadership.

Minimum Training and Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing or Associate/Diploma degree in nursing are required; if Associate/Diploma degree, must be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years in position and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years in position.  A minimum of two years of work experience as a registered nurse in an OR designated area of practice required. Attendance in the Charge Nurse Workshop and successful completion of the MUHA Charge Nurse Competency-Based Orientation is required within 6 months of hire. 

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations:  Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
