Requirements
  • Have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Have 10+ years of related machining experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrate advanced to expert-level machining skills across CNC and manual equipment.
  • Have experience performing OD turning, ID turning, grinding, and burnishing operations.
  • Demonstrate proficiency operating CNC mills, CNC lathes, manual mills, manual lathes, and manual VTLs.
  • Be able to calculate machining feed rates, speeds, and setup requirements.
  • Support Rotor Shop and Machine Shop operations based on customer requirements.
  • Have experience machining steam rotors, gas rotors, cases, gas turbine components, aero components, and value rack repairs.
  • Demonstrate the ability to operate both manual and CNC machining equipment.
Responsibilities
  • Support a strong safety culture and promote a safe-to-start mindset in all operations.
  • Align large rotors, gas turbine components, and parts within tight tolerances for machining, grinding, and runout corrections.
  • Program CNC lathes, VTLs, and milling machines to support production and repair activities.
  • Read and interpret OEM drawings, Repair Engineering Instructions, work instructions, and digital routers.
  • Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing principles to machining and inspection activities.
  • Calculate and set machining parameters including speed, feed, coolant flow, depth of cut, and cutting angles.
  • Enter, retrieve, and edit CNC machine programs and control media.
  • Monitor machine operations to identify malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions and make necessary adjustments.
  • Select, align, and secure fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on mills, lathes, and grinding equipment.
  • Support machining, repair, and refurbishment activities while meeting OEM specifications and quality requirements.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods during the workday.
  • Safely lift and move machining tools, fixtures, and components as required.
  • Work around large rotating equipment and industrial machinery.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment in manufacturing and shop environments.
  • Work overtime and alternate shifts based on business needs.

  • Have experience supporting gas turbine repair operations, including HSPT, GE10, Frame 3, Frame 5, Frame 6, and Frame 7 rotors and component machining.
