Requirements
  • At least two years of experience in janitorial or maintenance work.
  • Working knowledge of chemicals and reactions and the safe, proper use of cleaning supplies and equipment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • First aid, CPR, and emergency behavior intervention certifications.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens throughout employment.
  • Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request.
  • Pass pre-employment and biennial criminal background checks.
  • Respond sensitively and competently to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
  • Work collaboratively with staff members, service providers, and professionals.
  • Maintain knowledge of current equipment used for maintenance duties.
  • Achieve high standards of cleanliness in work outcomes.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret policy manuals and documents.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining emotional control and professional composure.
  • Maintain computer literacy required for the position.
  • Organize and plan work.
  • Work effectively without intensive supervision, independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Maintain working knowledge of Compass Connections policies and procedures.
  • Receive an annual influenza vaccination or obtain an approved medical or religious exemption.
  • Be authorized to work for any employer in the United States.
Responsibilities
  • Meet all applicable federal and state regulatory guidelines and standards.
  • Maintain safe and sanitized conditions in agency buildings and equipment in accordance with licensing and policy requirements.
  • Operate maintenance equipment and immediately report malfunctioning equipment.
  • Participate in scheduled meetings, team decisions, and operations.
  • Implement safety protocols, including evacuating children and staff during emergencies.
  • Work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed or requested by the supervisor.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all areas of child and program operations.
  • Maintain professional and ethical standards of conduct, including respecting agency staff, children, and community members and complying with the required dress code.
  • Clean, sanitize, and maintain buildings and equipment according to agency policies, procedures, and applicable local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
  • Report unsafe conditions to supervisory staff and suggest solutions to hazards.
  • Meet predetermined deadlines required by the program and federal partners.
  • Frequently traverse between areas of the campus.
  • Frequently move equipment weighing up to 100 pounds between areas of the campus.
  • Support, encourage, and recruit foster parents for foster care programs.

Compass Connections is a nonprofit provider of community-based services for children, young people, and families. Programs include foster care, residential care, family preservation, behavioral health, and support for unaccompanied children. Teams work with public agencies and caregivers to provide safe, stable, and individualized services. Compass works in child welfare and human services, responding to safety, trauma, development, family relationships, and regulatory requirements through residential settings, foster networks, community programs, and public-agency partnerships.
