Requirements
  • At least 10 years of experience in an area of significant responsibility or with a hospital system.
  • Experience with revenue cycle functions.
  • Direct supervisory experience.
  • A proven track record of leading cross-functional finance teams or overseeing multiple departments within a healthcare or hospital setting.
  • Experience working with spreadsheets, word processing, and internet-based tools.
  • A bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or another business-related field.
  • Knowledge of current national healthcare policies and trends in the political environment.
  • Knowledge of leadership, management, and performance improvement concepts.
Responsibilities
  • Provide senior-level financial leadership across multiple hospitals, trauma centers, transplant centers, and specialty services, including assigned clinical and operational support departments.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of hospital strategic plans and financial programs.
  • Translate system strategy into actionable multi-hospital financial plans, monitor progress toward goals, and initiate corrective action to meet key performance indicators.
  • Partner with system executives and hospital leadership to define financial goals, support growth initiatives, and align hospital-level operations with enterprise financial strategy.
  • Lead the development and oversight of operating budgets, rolling forecasts, long-range financial plans, and advanced financial models.
  • Manage financial performance across larger, more complex hospitals or markets and oversee financial performance for hospital groups with net revenues greater than $700 million.
  • Collaborate with senior management and clinical leaders to inform organizational decision-making.
  • Prepare executive-level financial analyses and presentations for leadership and governance review.
  • Provide financial guidance for complex operational, service-line, and capacity decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and accrediting standards.
  • Identify deviations, recommend corrective actions, and proactively address potential regulatory risks.
  • Scan internal and external environments for emerging risks or opportunities affecting the hospital's financial position.
  • Develop and recommend short- and long-range capital plans and manage current capital funding within budget.
  • Represent the hospital or market in internal and external committees and provide advanced financial expertise.
  • Work with medical staff leadership and operational departments to support service-line growth, physician alignment, and performance optimization.
  • Lead financial and operational improvement initiatives focused on cost-structure optimization, revenue performance, productivity management, and service-line economics.
  • Drive standardization and consistency across expanded operational areas.
  • Collaborate with executive and clinical leadership to ensure financial decisions support patient experience, quality outcomes, safety initiatives, and long-term sustainability.
  • Provide direct leadership, mentorship, and succession planning for finance managers and analysts.
  • Ensure consistency, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reporting and analysis.
  • Provide indirect oversight of revenue integrity and revenue cycle functions when assigned.
  • Make financial decisions within the VP Finance cost center.
  • Recommend financial decisions to the facility's Chief Hospital Executive on hospital-level financial matters.
  • Approve budget adjustments and resource allocations within delegated limits and escalate matters outside the scope of authority as appropriate.
Desired Qualifications
  • Executive leadership experience.
  • A master's degree in a related field.
  • Advanced personal computer skills, including Power BI, SQL, SmartView, and UKG.
  • CPA certification.
  • Healthcare Financial Management Association certification.
