Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least one year of experience working in a healthcare setting is required.
  • A certificate from an accredited Medical Assistant program licensed by the New York State Department of Education, or Phlebotomy and Electrocardiogram certification from an accredited program licensed by the New York State Department of Education, is required.
  • Strong knowledge of the technical skills associated with the certification and job function is required.
  • The ability to work effectively with multiple managers and key stakeholders in a fast-paced environment is required.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of organization are required.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and diplomacy skills, along with initiative and a professional demeanor, are required.
Responsibilities
  • Obtain patient vital signs, physical statistics, and medical histories for each patient visit.
  • Perform phlebotomy and electrocardiograms as needed.
  • Execute laboratory and procedure orders and occupational health physicals, including completing appropriate forms, collecting and preparing specimens, and conducting point-of-care testing.
  • Retrieve laboratory and ancillary test results for provider review.
  • Assist providers with medical procedure setup as needed or directed.
  • Document all clinical services accurately and completely in the electronic medical record.
  • Direct patient throughput and back-office flow to ensure patients are roomed, examined, and discharged in a timely and organized manner.
  • Assist with occupational health duties and patients.
  • Organize and restock medical supplies at the Medical Assistant station and in examination rooms.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and appearance of examination rooms.
  • Complete daily procedure checklists.
  • Coordinate timely delivery of results to employers and medical review officers.
  • Maintain compliance with company training and policies.
  • Welcome and support new team members as needed.
  • Respond to and execute email communications in a timely manner.
  • Assist providers with diagnostic test ordering, chart updates, and patient communication during scribe cross-training.
  • Document patient follow-up needs, completed forms, and communication notes.
  • Track completion of non-clinical tasks discussed during visits, including outside-service referrals and educational materials provided.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to streamline documentation without recording medical diagnoses or provider assessments.
  • Greet and register patients, verify insurance, and collect payments accurately during patient-care-coordinator cross-training.
  • Answer and route phone calls and take and deliver messages as needed.
  • Respond to and resolve patient questions and issues as needed.
  • Document patient information accurately and completely in the electronic medical record.
  • Direct patient throughput and flow in the waiting area and perform patient service recovery as needed.
  • Securely collect and save patient credit cards on file to streamline billing.
  • Perform and document regular administrative audits.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least one year of experience working in an urgent care setting is preferred.
  • Fluency in Spanish, Bengali, Arabic, Creole, French, or Hindi is a plus.
