  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • One to two years of relevant experience working in a clinic setting is required.
  • Demonstrated general understanding and knowledge of front-office and back-office standards, procedures, medical terminology, and medical office practices.
  • Ability to administer vaccinations and give injections.
  • Knowledge and capability of documenting electronic health records in an electronic medical record system.
  • Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures.
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments used to administer patient care.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to operate a computer keyboard, terminal, printer, general office equipment, special medical equipment, and telephone equipment.
Responsibilities
  • Place patients in examination rooms; obtain and accurately document vital signs, chief complaints, and brief histories in the medical record.
  • Prepare examination and treatment rooms with necessary instruments.
  • Administer vaccines, injections, and medications as ordered by the provider.
  • Perform or assist with medical procedures, including dressing changes, hearing and visual testing, and respiratory therapy.
  • Document patient interventions and responses thoroughly in the medical record.
  • Track laboratory and diagnostic test results and communicate results and provider orders to patients as directed.
  • Conduct patient callbacks as directed by physicians and document patient comments and progress completely in the medical record.
  • Review written and verbal instructions, educational materials, and procedure consent forms with patients and family members.
  • Schedule tests and surgeries and obtain proper authorization or precertification.
  • Arrange follow-up and referral appointment scheduling.
  • Disinfect patient rooms after each patient and sterilize equipment and instruments according to office procedures, schedules, and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly patient environment by removing soiled linen and disposing of waste according to universal precautions and Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.
  • Bilingual Spanish language ability.

  • Medical Assistant certification from either the American Association of Medical Assistants or the American Medical Technologists.
