About the job
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- A current Michigan Certified Nursing Assistant Registry credential is required, or the candidate must complete an approved Nurse Aide Training program and obtain certification within four months of hire.
- Basic Life Support certification must be obtained within six months of hire and maintained.
- Basic computer skills are required.
- The candidate must be able to interpret data and communicate effectively with residents, families, and the healthcare team.
- The candidate must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with heavier tasks as needed.
- The candidate must maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- The candidate must follow safety protocols and maintain ongoing competency development.
- Review care plans with nurses at the start of each shift.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including eating, bathing, and dressing.
- Respond to call lights and assess residents' needs.
- Record vital signs and patient information.
- Turn and reposition residents for pressure relief.
- Communicate resident status and interventions to nursing staff.
- Provide customer service to visitors.
- Serve meals and assist residents with feeding.
- Maintain cleanliness of resident rooms and change linens as needed.
- Document patient data in the electronic medical record.
- Experience in long-term care or geriatrics is preferred.
- Patient Care Assistants may be considered during a temporary exception; pursuing Certified Nursing Assistant certification is encouraged.
