About the job
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- At least one year of experience working as a medical receptionist.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Excellent grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to maintain effective, organized systems for timely patient flow.
- The ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Dedication to maintaining confidentiality of all patient records.
- Bilingual Spanish language ability.
- Welcome patients by telephone, answer inquiries, and refer questions to other staff members.
- Schedule appointments for physicians and physician assistants to optimize patient satisfaction, provider time, and use of examination and treatment rooms.
- Confirm all appointments before the date of service.
- Verify insurance and inform patients of needed referrals before the date of service.
- Assist patients with copayments and billing questions.
- Retrieve patient files in the electronic medical record system, verify information on file, and insert new patient record forms and information.
- Maintain the confidentiality of patients' medical, personal, and financial information.
- Maintain the reception area in a neat and orderly condition.
- Participate in the medical office emergency routine when required, including summoning an ambulance or emergency medical services and assisting other staff members as needed.
- Two years of medical office and/or dermatology front-desk experience.
- Some college.
- Dermatology experience.
- Experience with EMA.
