- A Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry or a related field.
- Experience with solvent extraction techniques.
- Experience with Environmental Protection Agency, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, and American Society for Testing and Materials preparation and analysis methods and protocols.
- Strong experience with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- Good organizational skills and the ability to perform multiple tasks efficiently.
- Participate in all aspects of operating the organic chemistry department, including sample preparation, sample analysis, method development, data quality review, training personnel, and maintaining instrumentation.
- Prepare and analyze a variety of extracted samples and matrices, including organic-based matrices, minerals and raw products, and environmental and industrial hygiene samples.
- Working experience with instruments such as gas chromatography with flame ionization detection, gas chromatography with electron capture detection, gas chromatography–mass spectrometry, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, or high-performance liquid chromatography.
- Experience with instrument maintenance and repair.
