Requirements
  • Five years of experience with mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Five years of experience using test equipment, including multimeters and digital analyzers.
  • Proficiency in using and understanding Microsoft Office.
  • Proficient knowledge of building codes.
Responsibilities
  • Plan layouts and install electrical wiring and equipment based on job specifications and local codes.
  • Connect wires to electrical components to complete operational systems.
  • Test electrical systems and circuit continuity using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and ammeters to ensure system compatibility and safety.
  • Use power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment.
  • Place conduit, pipes, or tubing inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.
  • Work from ladders, scaffolds, or roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring or equipment.
  • Ensure personal and team safety on jobs, including pre-task planning and toolbox talks.
  • Assemble, install, test, or maintain electrical or electronic wiring or equipment using hand tools or power tools.
  • Prepare as-built documents and submit them to the Design team.
  • Complete and submit labor and expense reports and paperwork accurately and on time.
  • Prepare completed job documentation and participate in operational verification of systems.
  • Participate in and potentially develop customer acceptance procedure plans.
  • Monitor, manage, and anticipate project installation budgets and notify the Lead Controls Installation Specialist of potential problems.
  • Submit regular labor productivity reports for each managed project.
  • Prepare installation material orders and submit purchase-order requests for specialized installation materials such as wire, conduit, and hangers.
  • Visit jobsites to obtain information about materials to be ordered.
  • Schedule delivery of equipment and installation materials to jobsites.
  • Monitor assigned jobs for changes in materials or equipment and make change-order recommendations to the Design team when appropriate.
  • Notify the Lead Controls Installation Specialist of changes in material requirements.
  • Maintain close contact with installation personnel and respond to material contingencies.
  • Participate in project handoff meetings and coordinate with the Lead Controls Installation Specialist to schedule installation resources and field labor needed to meet project schedules.
  • Examine job contract plans, specifications, and submittal documents and review them with the Design team to understand the designed system.
  • Visit actual jobsites to gather information for engineering layouts.
  • Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine wiring or equipment locations and ensure conformance to building and safety codes.
  • Manage field labor allocated to projects.
  • Provide technical information to installation personnel and the Design team on equipment applications.
  • Maintain employee paperwork, including time cards and expense reports, and submit it accurately and on time.
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop Controls Installation Specialists I and II.
  • Provide or participate in customer training when needed.
  • Maintain proficient product knowledge, procedures, and methods and continuously learn advanced product applications.
  • Stay current on company installation standards, safety training, and building codes applicable to the scope of work.
  • Manage personal backlog to ensure timely and accurate job completion, keep field personnel informed of job status, and escalate problems as needed.
  • Perform basic program duplication and assist with or commission unitary control devices such as Variable Air Volume units when assigned.
  • Participate in startup procedures and make minor modifications to control programs under the direction of a Controls System Specialist.

Harris expands into Colorado through multiple strategic acquisitions. June 2, 2026 Harris has expanded its national footprint into Colorado through the acquisition of three companies serving the region's mechanical systems, controls and building automation markets. The move establishes a strong operating base for Harris in Colorado and significantly broadens the company's presence across the Mountain West. The expansion began with the acquisition of Colorado-based temperature controls company D.R. Associates (DRA), effective May 4. Founded in Denver more than 20 years ago, DRA has built a strong reputation for delivering dependable temperature control solutions tailored to the needs of Colorado businesses. The company serves customers across industries including healthcare, manufacturing and commercial facilities. Effective June 1, Harris also acquired Climate Engineering (CEI) and Centennial Controls (CCI). CEI and CCI bring complementary expertise in mechanical systems, HVAC solutions and building automation throughout Colorado. Together, the companies have supported a wide range of commercial and industrial projects across the region, helping customers improve building performance, visibility and operational efficiency through advanced mechanical and controls solutions.
