Requirements
  • Prior experience supporting secure government, military, or industrial facilities.
  • A minimum Secret security clearance or higher is required to be considered for this position.
  • A high school diploma or high school equivalent certificate.
Responsibilities
  • Install, repair, and maintain mechanical locks, electronic locks, padlocks, door hardware, and secure-area access devices.
  • Service, repair, and inspect GSA-approved security containers, vault doors, and secure storage equipment in accordance with federal physical security requirements.
  • Install, operate, and maintain Kaba Mas / X-Series locks, including X-09, X-10, CDX-09, and CDX-10, and other approved high-security locking mechanisms.
  • Perform combination changes, lock re-cores, and keying adjustments for secure storage containers, restricted areas, and controlled spaces.
  • Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning locks, cylinders, cores, and electronic locking components.
  • Install and service door hardware such as hinges, closers, panic bars, strike plates, and access-control interfaces.
  • Respond to lockouts, access issues, and urgent repair requests to restore secure entry or egress.
  • Maintain strict key control, including issuance, tracking, accountability logs, and secure storage of keys and combinations.
  • Conduct inspections of locking devices and secure storage equipment to identify wear, damage, or security vulnerabilities, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Document all work performed, including lock changes, combination resets, key issuance, and hardware maintenance.
  • Coordinate with physical security personnel, facility managers, and maintenance teams to ensure compliance with Navy and Department of Defense physical security requirements.

  • Formal locksmith training, certification, or apprenticeship preferred.
