What believers are saying

  • The August 2026 Mood Treatment Center integration adds North Carolina locations and cross-sell opportunities.
  • Seven Tennessee clinics give Athena Care dense regional coverage and easier employer- and insurer-network negotiations.
  • Demand for outpatient psychiatry and testing remains strong across Nashville-area suburbs and telehealth channels.

What critics are saying

  • Athena Care cannot accept TennCare, blocking Medicaid patients and ceding volume to public providers.
  • Private-insurance dependence exposes Athena Care to 2027 reimbursement cuts and prior-authorization denials.
  • Psychiatrist and therapist turnover would cripple access, lengthen waitlists, and weaken referral relationships quickly.

What makes Athena Care unique

  • Athena Care runs seven Tennessee clinics and North Carolina through Mood Treatment Center, all under one brand.
  • It offers therapy, psychiatry, testing, TMS, ketamine, and telehealth from Nashville to Knoxville.
  • Assured Healthcare Partners bought Athena Care in 2021, backing a professionalized outpatient mental-health platform.
