A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering is required.
One year of experience in the design of boilers, heat recovery systems, or other power industry applications is required.
A broad understanding of heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics as applied to the equipment manufactured or supplied by the company is required.
A valid passport and ability to travel when required are required.
Ability and willingness to work overtime as required is required.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of the company's thermal and mechanical design standards and philosophy, guidelines, work instructions, computer programs, and principles and details of application.
Maintain technical proposal files in a structured manner in accordance with applicable standards and guidelines.
Coordinate and proactively manage internal support from other departments and areas to support the Sales Department and maintain effective working relationships.
Review customer technical specifications and establish a firm understanding of customer requirements through direct communication with customers.
Prepare technical proposals, including exceptions and clarifications to customer specifications, technical strategies for management approval, General Arrangement drawings, and P&IDs; coordinate with Thermal Sales Engineers and other engineering departments as needed.
Take responsibility for emissions calculations, emissions guarantees, and other technical guarantees.
Complete preliminary design, prepare inquiries, evaluate bids for bought-out components, and coordinate cost estimates for those components under the supervision of the Proposal Engineering Group Lead.
Attend proposal review and bid clarification meetings at customer offices; prepare and conduct technical presentations for customers as required; and independently negotiate technical contracts.
Coordinate the transfer of design and specifications to executing departments after a contract award.
Help develop and expand profitable, efficient customer relationships by providing accurate and timely support for customer needs.

Position Summary
The Proposal Engineer is responsible for complete technical proposals and technical negotiations with customers resulting in a signed-off technical specification for new build capital contracts. Coordinates technical design activities and economic optimizations required for competitive technical proposals. Responsible for the preliminary design, engagement of subvendors, and cost summary for bought out components. Employs successful strategies and design approaches for equipment into proposals that ultimately lead to profitable orders. Develops new and existing accounts by meeting the customer’s expectations in terms of supplying the customer with a quality product, competitive pricing, and timely support.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities

· Coordinates the transfer of design and specifications to the executing departments after a contract award.

· BS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
· One (1) year experience in the design of boilers or heat recovery systems and/or other power industry application.

The base pay range for this Proposal Engineer role is $91,500 - $126,000 annually.
