Requirements
  • At least 5 years of experience in software quality engineering, test automation, or software engineering with substantial dedicated test ownership.
  • A clear point of view on how testing should be done and the judgment to determine which practices are worth enforcing.
  • Strong coding ability in a language and framework used for test automation, such as Python with pytest or JavaScript or TypeScript with Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium; ability to read and reason about application code under test.
  • Routine use of AI-assisted development, with judgment about where it adds value and where its output requires verification.
  • Demonstrated experience building automated test suites and integrating them into continuous integration and continuous delivery as release gates.
  • Experience owning a test plan through review and acceptance.
  • Demonstrated practice of testing against requirements rather than implementation, including working directly with product owners or end users to establish correctness.
  • Experience with performance and load testing, including establishing what a result does and does not demonstrate.
  • Working statistical literacy, including sampling design and understanding the confidence a measurement can support.
  • Experience measuring what a system misses, not only what it gets right.
  • Willingness to report results the team did not want and keep measurement independent of the people whose work it evaluates.
  • Ability to gate work owned by people who do not report to the role and earn enough credibility with engineers for the gate to hold.
  • Clear, audit-ready written documentation.
  • Willingness to hold a release and explain the reason to people who want it shipped.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Active U.S. Secret clearance; the work requires a favorable investigation and Common Access Card eligibility from the start.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% to customer sites, DEFCON AI headquarters, and vendor facilities as required.
Responsibilities
  • Own and maintain the system test plan covering functional, integration, performance, and load testing as a formal deliverable.
  • Translate product acceptance criteria into executable tests.
  • Review acceptance criteria with product before development begins and identify requirements that are ambiguous or not verifiable as written.
  • Hold engineering, platform, and partner teams accountable to acceptance criteria and define the evidence required before a change is complete.
  • Work alongside engineering daily while independently reporting test results.
  • Plan and coordinate user acceptance testing with the customer and track findings through resolution.
  • Build and maintain automated test suites and integrate them into the continuous integration and continuous delivery pipeline as release gates.
  • Establish and enforce an automated coverage standard and report against it.
  • Build performance and load testing that validates the system under expected user load.
  • Maintain regression coverage across releases.
  • Build and maintain labeled evaluation sets with subject-matter experts.
  • Design and run sampled audits confirming automated decisions were correct.
  • Measure and report what the system misses alongside what it gets right.
  • Measure how often users override the system and report the trend.
  • Document how each committed measure is computed, what data it uses, and what evidence accompanies a release.
  • Produce evidence independently of the people building the models.
  • Maintain the version inventory across builds, models, configurations, and thresholds.
  • Produce test reports, evaluation records, and rollback criteria for each release.
  • Work with platform engineering to confirm that test environments sufficiently match production for meaningful results.
  • Hold the release gate so no release ships without the required acceptance evidence.
Desired Qualifications
  • Active Top Secret clearance.
  • Experience in government DevSecOps, Risk Management Framework, or Authority to Operate environments, including producing test evidence for formal accreditation or audit.
  • Experience with contract and API testing, test data management, and building extensible test infrastructure.
  • Use of language models to generate and maintain test coverage, with practices that keep generated tests meaningful rather than merely passing.
  • Experience with JMeter, k6, Locust, or comparable performance-testing tools.
  • Experience validating machine learning or model output, including groundedness and citation checking, and analyzing where users disagreed with a system recommendation.
  • Experience with systems where incorrect results carry real cost and testing must satisfy an external reviewer.
  • Experience with model cards, the National Institute of Standards and Technology AI Risk Management Framework, or comparable responsible artificial intelligence practices.
  • Experience verifying Section 508 and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines accessibility.

What believers are saying

  • Youngkin joined as chairman on July 15, 2026, expanding Red Cell’s political access.
  • Trase raised $107 million in June 2026 and already runs Duke Health workflows.
  • Claros agreed to a $232.8 million Navitas sale, validating Red Cell’s incubation model.

What critics are saying

  • Red Cell depends on federal contracting cycles and procurement relationships; one bad budget stalls growth.
  • Trase’s $107 million seed demands a huge Series A by late 2026 or retrenchment.
  • Claros’ $232.8 million Navitas acquisition closes by year-end 2026, or Red Cell loses momentum.

What makes Red Cell Partners unique

  • Red Cell builds companies, not just funds them, across defense, cyber, and healthcare.
  • Grant Verstandig’s Rally Health exit and Youngkin’s 2026 hire deepen operator-government credibility.
  • Its venture-studio model pairs incubation, capital, and go-to-market via Valinor for government buyers.

IntelePeer Launches Aqurio | Trase Raises $107M Seed Round Led by ARCH Venture Partners.

IntelePeer Launches Aqurio | Trase Raises $107M Seed Round Led by ARCH Venture Partners. July 21, 2026 Check out today's featured companies who have recently raised a round of funding, and be sure to check out the full list of past healthcare IT fundings. IntelePeer Launches Aqurio, an Agentic AI Company for Healthcare and Other High-Stakes Industries Company's Mission is to Help Organizations in Complex Industries Operate More Efficiently and Scale Faster by Combining Agentic AI with Compliance-First Vertical Integrations IntelePeer today announced the launch of Aqurio, an Agentic AI company purpose-built to deploy, orchestrate, and govern intelligent AI agents across healthcare and other mission-critical industries. Designed for environments where mistakes carry financial and operational consequences, Aqurio delivers the enterprise-grade governance and reliability required to operationalize AI at scale. The launch brings together IntelePeer's AI technology, industry-specific expertise, customer relationships, proprietary interaction data, and enterprise infrastructure under a dedicated company built to meet the demands of organizations where trust and compliance are non-negotiable. IntelePeer continues to serve its CPaaS and voice services customers. Organizations across complex industries face a common set of pressures, including rising labor costs, increased regulatory oversight, persistent workforce shortages, fragmented systems, and customers and patients who expect immediate, personalized, and frictionless experiences across every interaction. Legacy technologies and traditional automation solutions have struggled to keep pace, creating disconnected experiences, operational inefficiencies, and growing costs that erode revenue, productivity, and trust. Aqurio is purpose-built to close these gaps, enabling organizations to deliver on the promise of the digital front door. Where traditional conversational AI understands and responds, Agentic AI takes the next step, operating within governance frameworks to make decisions and complete work autonomously. Aqurio agents execute end-to-end operational workflows across systems, departments, and channels that have historically required large teams to coordinate. In healthcare, Aqurio agents support patient access and adjacent workflows, including scheduling, prior authorization support, care gap closure, revenue recovery, and clinical triage support as defined and overseen by healthcare professionals. Across financial services, insurance, government, and other high-stakes industries, agents automate customer service, scheduling and appointment management, claims and payment workflows, collections, and other operational processes that demand accuracy, compliance, and accountability. By coordinating conversations, applying business rules, and executing tasks from initiation through completion, Aqurio's SmartAnalytics, SmartAgent, and SmartEngage operate as a unified agentic platform where every interaction continuously improves the next... Trase Raises $107M Seed Round Led by ARCH Venture Partners to Continue Building Agentic Operating System for Regulated Industries Trase has raised a $107M seed round led by ARCH Venture Partners with participation from Red Cell Partners and others. Led by CEO Grant Verstandig and President Baskar Sridharan, Trase is a full-stack AI solution providing an agentic operating system and agents for high-stakes environments. With a suite of hundreds of agents ready to deploy across multiple verticals in weeks, rather than months, Trase ensures compliance and governance across every workflow to drive real-world performance and unlock value creation for enterprise organizations. "Regulated industries are full of brilliant people who can exponentially serve their country and their customers through the power of AI. Trase delivers that boost to augment capabilities," said Robert Nelsen, Co-Founder and Managing Director at ARCH Venture Partners. "Grant has built the right team, the right technology, and has proven it works in industries that are the most demanding for performance." Since its launch last fall, Trase has been working with Duke University Health System to deploy specialized agents within its Division of Cardiology. Proven use cases include automating the more than 5,000 faxes the clinic receives each month, which were previously hand-sorted by trained medical assistants or nurses. While peer-reviewed research on the deployment of Trase agents at Duke is upcoming, initial observations from live agents reveal that AI routing...

Ex-Gov Youngkin cashes in with Tysons defense-tech power player.

Ex-Gov Youngkin cashes in with Tysons defense-tech power player. Published on July 15, 2026 Former Virginia governor Glenn Youngkin is sliding back into the private-sector spotlight, signing on with Tysons-based investment and incubation outfit Red Cell Partners. The move drops the onetime private-equity executive squarely back into Northern Virginia's startup and defense-tech scene and marks his first major business role since leaving office earlier this year. According to the Washington Business Journal, Youngkin is returning to his investment roots by joining the Tysons-area firm after a long run in private equity and a four-year stint in Richmond. For a company that has been quietly collecting big names from the Pentagon and industry circles, his arrival is a headline hire. What Red Cell does and who it hires. Red Cell Partners operates out of the McLean and Tysons corridor, backing startups in health care, cyber and national-security technology. That focus has helped pull in a roster of high-profile figures from both government and industry. The firm previously tapped former Defense Secretary Mark Esper to lead its national-security practice, a move that highlighted just how aggressively Red Cell is courting senior defense and policy experience. Reporting by Defense News provides background on those hires and the firm's focus areas. Youngkin's business and political background. Before his political turn, Youngkin spent roughly 25 years at The Carlyle Group, eventually rising into top management before stepping away to run for governor. The National Governors Association notes that he served as Virginia's 74th governor from January 15, 2022, to January 17, 2026, making this a relatively fast pivot back into the investment world. Red Cell is widely seen as leaning on his private-equity resume and deep network as it builds out its portfolio. Why the hire matters locally. Youngkin's addition reinforces a familiar Northern Virginia pattern: firms that live at the intersection of national security, venture capital and federal contracting keep pulling in big-name political and defense talent. In a region where government relationships can make or break a company's growth, parking a recent governor inside a Tysons investment shop sends a clear signal about how closely business and politics remain intertwined. The Washington Business Journal situates the hire squarely within that broader regional trend. Public materials from Red Cell outline the firm's leadership and recent press coverage, and its newsroom at Red Cell Partners is expected to offer more detail on Youngkin's specific responsibilities and title. For now, observers are watching how his political profile and dealmaking background might factor into Red Cell's push to scale its health-tech and national-security portfolio.

Verstandig previously sold Rally Health to UnitedHealth Group in 2017 for $4 billion, one of the largest digital health exits at the time. Youngkin praised Red Cell's approach of combining expertise and capital to address mission-critical problems. Verstandig said Youngkin's experience in business and government would help transform challenging industries critical to America's future.

Trase raises $107M seed for AI operating system in healthcare and defence

Trase, an AI operating system company, has raised $107 million in seed funding led by Arch Venture Partners, with participation from Red Cell Partners. The McLean, Virginia-based startup has now raised $117.5 million and plans to pursue a Series A round of over $125 million later this year. The company is building an operating system and infrastructure layer for AI agents in highly regulated industries, currently focusing on healthcare and defence. Trase serves as connective tissue between data, foundation models and expertise, having developed around 200 AI use cases for customers. The startup operates healthcare agents within Duke Health's Division of Cardiology that automate faxes and prescription refills. Trase plans to expand into other regulated sectors including energy and finance, and will pursue tuck-in acquisitions to drive customer growth.
