Hankook Tire wins Gold at Italy's 'A' Design Award & Competition'

Hankook Tire wins Gold at Italy's 'A' Design Award & Competition' July 11, 2026 Hankook Tire & Technology has won the Gold Award at Italy's A' Design Award & Competition 2026 for its Bladder Upcycling Series, developed through the company's ESG upcycling project re:move. The series reuses bladders, which are inflatable molds used in the tire curing process, and transforms them into furniture, bricks and lifestyle goods. The project highlights how tire manufacturing by-products can be redirected into new design applications, supporting resource circulation, recycling and sustainability through material innovation. Bladder Upcycling Series recognized in international design competition. The A' Design Award & Competition receives entries from more than 100 countries across categories such as product design, architecture, fashion and graphic design. Hankook Tire received the Gold Award for the Bladder Upcycling Series on its first participation in the competition. According to the company, the Gold Award is presented to the top three percent of entries. Project reuses tire manufacturing by-products. The Bladder Upcycling Series was created as part of Hankook Tire's re:move project, an ESG initiative focused on transforming discarded manufacturing materials into new resources through creative upcycling. The project uses bladders from the tire curing process and explores how these materials can be reused through collaboration with partners in design, research and other industries. Hankook Tire said the initiative also supports its work in material research and sustainable design. Collection developed with Seoul National University lab. The award-winning series was developed with DISCO Lab, the Design Innovation for Sustainable Circularity Lab at Seoul National University. The collection includes 3D-printed upcycled furniture that uses the distinctive layered texture of the bladder material, upcycled bricks made with recycled tire molds for kinetic wall installations, and handcrafted upcycled keyrings designed as lifestyle accessories. The judges recognized the series for its approach to circular design and resource sustainability. Series first presented at Seoul Design Festival. The Bladder Upcycling Series was first unveiled at Seoul Design Festival 2025. Following the A' Design Award recognition, the winning works will be permanently exhibited at the Museo del Design in Como, Italy. Hankook Tire said the award reflects the company's design activities beyond mobility, including material innovation and lifestyle design based on reused tire manufacturing materials. The re:move project has previously received international recognition for sustainable design. Its first outcome, the Upcycled Longboard, received the Winner Award in the Concept Design category at the Red Dot Design Award 2024 in Singapore and later received the 2025 Green GOOD DESIGN Sustainability Award in the United States. Hankook Tire said it plans to continue expanding the reuse and recycling of unused materials while developing sustainable design projects linked to resource circulation. Weibold is an international consulting company specializing exclusively in end-of-life tire recycling and pyrolysis. Since 1999, we have helped companies grow and build profitable businesses.

Hankook launches Winter I*cept Evo 4.

Hankook launches Winter I*cept Evo 4. By Zahra Awan 26th June 2026 2 Mins Read Hankook has launched two new winter tires: the Winter I*cept Evo 4 for passenger cars and the Winter I*cept Evo 4 SUV. Both models offer improvements in rolling resistance and noise reduction compared to their predecessors, and a 15% increase in mileage over the previous generation, the tire maker said. Hankook attributes the Winter I*cept Evo 4's lower rolling resistance to a reduced curing temperature and improved silica dispersion, which it says contributes to lower fuel consumption and driving stability. Rolling noise has also been reduced through a reworked tread design featuring diagonally cut tread blocks and redesigned central grooves. Hankook says the Winter I*cept Evo 4's tread geometry improves braking performance on snow and traction in adverse conditions. "With the new Winter I*cept Evo 4, Hankook is continuing the success story of its winter tire family," said Jongho Park, president and COO of Hankook Tire Europe. "The new model combines safe driving characteristics with maximum comfort. At the same time, the low rolling resistance meets the requirement for uncompromising efficiency." For winter tires, the tread plays a particularly important role as the tire compound is softer. This allows for a larger contact surface between tread strip and road, thereby reducing wear. The Hankook engineers specifically leveraged this effect to increase mileage compared with the predecessor model. The Hankook Winter I*cept Evo 4 will be available in 93 sizes for passenger cars, the Winter I*cept Evo 4 SUV in 75 sizes.

Hankook Tire honoured with Ford's 2025 QR ZERO AWARD.

Hankook Tire honoured with Ford's 2025 QR ZERO AWARD. * By TT News * March 26, 2026 Hankook Tire has once again demonstrated its standing as a global quality leader, having been presented with the 2025 QR ZERO AWARD by the American automotive brand Ford. The formal recognition took place on 25 March 2026 at Technoplex, the company's headquarters in Pangyo, South Korea, underscoring the strength of its manufacturing and quality management systems on an international stage. This accolade represents the highest form of quality recognition from Ford, reserved exclusively for supply partners that achieve exceptional performance over the course of a year. The criteria are deliberately stringent, requiring zero quality rejections in parts supply alongside a complete absence of warranty claims. Winning the award signals Ford's full endorsement of Hankook Tire's advanced quality control processes and its proven ability to deliver products with unwavering reliability. A central contributor to this achievement was the Geumsan Plant, which supplies original equipment tyres for the Ford F-150, a top-selling pickup truck. This facility distinguished itself as the first among Hankook Tire's eight global manufacturing sites to earn the QR ZERO AWARD, driven by a company-wide 'Quality No.1' strategy that leverages artificial intelligence and big data analytics. The honour further validates Hankook's expertise in product development and its capacity to meet the demanding standards of a major automotive partner. The relationship between the two companies extends back to 1999, when Hankook became the first Asian tyre maker to form a strategic partnership with Ford, followed by original equipment supply for the F-150 beginning in 2003. Over the years, this collaboration has expanded to include key models such as the Mustang, Explorer and Ranger, as well as the all-electric Mustang Mach-E, showcasing Hankook's advanced capabilities in electric vehicle tire technology. Reinforcing this legacy of excellence, all eight of Hankook's global manufacturing facilities have now attained Ford's Q1 Award, a designation reserved for partners meeting the automaker's most exacting standards in quality, production systems and innovation.
