Requirements
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals, including well-tested, production-ready Python and attention to maintainability, observability, and operational excellence.
  • Experience building data pipelines and production systems from the ground up, including solving complex engineering problems rather than mainly configuring managed services or connecting off-the-shelf tools.
  • Experience with modern data engineering tools and patterns, with depth in several of SQL, Spark, Databricks or Delta Lake, orchestration tools such as Dagster, Airflow, or Temporal, and dbt.
  • Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous delivery, containerisation using Docker, and cloud-based infrastructure.
  • A product mindset and the ability to understand the business domain and use that understanding to shape what gets built.
  • Ability to explain and build support for ideas with peers, managers, and non-technical stakeholders, hold a visible technical position, and bring others along.
  • Evidence of using artificial intelligence as a default part of work, including efficiency gains and applications beyond code generation such as research, domain-knowledge development, or prototyping.
Responsibilities
  • Write production code daily, most likely in Python, and build and maintain the data pipelines powering Insights products.
  • Own the full lifecycle of projects, from understanding the data domain through pragmatic design and shipping to reliable production operation.
  • Set and lead the technical direction of the Insights platform and communicate the reasoning behind technical choices across engineering and the wider business.
  • Raise engineering standards and improve technical quality through testing, observability, data quality checks, and clean, maintainable code.
  • Apply artificial intelligence across products and pipelines where it delivers value, from research and prototyping to operational uses such as agents that help diagnose and fix pipeline issues.
  • Lay the foundations for the emerging MCP and semantic layer so data can be queried and reasoned over by people and artificial intelligence systems.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience shaping continuous integration and continuous delivery, containerisation, and cloud-based infrastructure for a team.
  • Exposure to AI-ready data building blocks such as semantic layers, ontologies, or text-to-SQL.
  • Experience applying artificial intelligence operationally within data platforms or pipelines.

Codat provides a data-integration platform for financial institutions and fintechs to automate and streamline access to customer financial data. It enables real-time reading, writing, and updating of data through multiple SDKs and libraries, with an easy authorization system for secure data sharing. The platform takes on ongoing maintenance, optimizations, and edge-case fixes so clients can launch new integrations quickly (weeks, not months) and focus on building products for their customers. Codat differentiates itself by offering end-to-end data integration management, maintenance, and security, rather than requiring clients to build and maintain these connections themselves. The company aims to accelerate underwriting and lending workflows for small businesses by providing reliable, scalable data access and smarter risk decisions through easy access to financial data.

Getting On Board: How Supplier Enablement Is Unlocking The Benefits Of Virtual Cards

Historically, B2B payments have often played out like a tug-of-war, with buyers aiming to retain their cash as long as possible while suppliers seek prompt payment. As a result, innovations that benefit both sides are often viewed through the lens of competing interests. Virtual cards, for example, offer a compelling solution for accounts payable (AP) teams. With features like enhanced security, improved spend management, and the ability to earn supplier rebates and discounts, virtual cards enable buyers to streamline AP processes and boost profitability. At the same time, these tools deliver advantages to suppliers’ accounts receivable (AR) teams, such as faster payments and improved cash flow. Despite these benefits, some suppliers remain hesitant to embrace virtual card payments

Over Two-Thirds Of Midsized Us Businesses Are ‘Polybanking,’ Survey Finds

Midsized businesses in the U.S. are moving away from traditional single-bank relationships in favor of a more diversified approach, according to data insights platform Codat. The data comes from a survey of 500 midsized businesses earning between $10M and $1B, and found that 68% now work with more banks than they did three to five years ago, making ‘polybanking’ the new banking relationship norm. The data found that 50% of businesses surveyed work with three or more banks, signalling that competition is intensifying in the midmarket, and technology is emerging as the top differentiator. Bank of America and JP Morgan Chase came out as the leading primary banks for most businesses, but their competitive advantage isn’t just customer service—it’s technology. Roughly one-third (33%) of finance leaders say advanced online features are their top priority when choosing a banking partner.Despite the dominance of major banks, businesses are sourcing just 63% of their financial services from their primary institution, highlighting an increasing reliance on alternative providers. More than a third (37%) of mid-sized businesses are now engaging with fintechs or neobanks to fill gaps left by traditional banks. As businesses increasingly rely on cloud-based apps for a comprehensive view of their financial health, they are becoming more willing to share their data in exchange for smarter, more tailored financial services.Over half (53%) of businesses surveyed are open to the idea of granting banks continuous access to their financial data—provided security measures are robust

Codat & Paytech Partner To Enable Issuers To Help More Commercial Clients Optimize Spend

Codat and PayTech have partnered to transform how commercial card issuers support clients to optimize their supplier payments through spend analytics. Spend analysis is a critical service to help commercial clients optimize working capital by offering recommendations on how to best manage supplier spend patterns. However, these processes historically require heavy, manual efforts, making it challenging for issuers to deliver actionable insights to their commercial clients. This problem is solved by combining Codat’s purpose-built supplier and spend data solution and PayTech’s market-leading spend and transaction analysis tool and $5 trillion proprietary data lake, OPTIMA
