Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree and five years of professional human resources experience, or equivalent education or experience in a closely related field.
  • Proven ability to use interpersonal business skills and work effectively within a diverse organization.
  • Well-developed organizational and interpersonal business skills, with demonstrated success in detailed work requiring accuracy, high productivity, organization, and urgency.
  • Knowledge of employment laws, employee relations, compensation practices, organizational diagnosis and design, workforce planning, and sourcing.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, databases, and human resources information systems.
  • Ability to collaborate with leaders to drive change in culture and management practices, with oral and written communication, influencing, and conflict-resolution skills.
Responsibilities
  • Consult, advise, and collaborate with senior leaders and assigned client areas on strategic and tactical human resources matters.
  • Assess client needs and recommend human resources solutions and initiatives supporting strategic business objectives.
  • Serve as the primary human resources contact for assigned departments and proactively identify needs and implement immediate or longer-term solutions.
  • Provide counsel on employee relations matters and manage or lead investigatory meetings.
  • Receive complaints, resolve issues informally or investigate possible policy violations, draft investigation summaries, and recommend next steps.
  • Facilitate conversations between employees, management, and unions, and partner with management and labor relations on labor strategy and relationships.
  • Promote and ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws, regulations, university policies, and procedures.
  • Gather information and partner with General Counsel to formulate responses to CHRO, EEOC, and FLSA complaints.
  • Assess training needs and develop and deliver training on relevant human resources and policy matters.
  • Work with Talent Acquisition and Compensation colleagues to support recruitment and compensation requirements.
  • Partner with managers and unit leaders to implement individual development planning, talent management, and performance management programs.
  • Lead talent planning, succession planning, and other talent programs supporting departmental strategic goals.
  • Analyze exit interviews, turnover data, workplace surveys, and other tools to identify opportunities for improvement and cultural impact.
  • Conduct exit interviews and participate in recruiting interviews and departmental committees related to diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, culture, or training.
  • Recommend workforce plans and provide solutions; advise, influence, and lead organizational design efforts.
  • Review current and proposed organizational structures with clients to understand the reasons for planned changes.
  • Coach and train other human resources business partners.
  • Serve as lead on human resources projects and initiatives.
  • Consult with senior leaders and assigned client areas on complex human resources challenges.
  • Partner with recruitment teams to support and lead strategic talent acquisition efforts.
  • Advise on organizational development and change initiatives and drive transformation and continuous improvement.
  • Address complex employee relations issues and provide expert guidance to managers on best practices and compliance.
  • Lead sensitive investigations as required.
  • Lead and support diversity and inclusion initiatives within client departments.
  • Use data analytics to inform human resources strategies and decisions.
  • Oversee performance management processes, including goal setting, performance appraisals, and development planning.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and university human resources policies and guidelines.
  • Identify training needs and lead employee training and development programs.
  • Partner with Organization Effectiveness and the Learning Center to address training needs.
  • Mentor and guide junior human resources staff members.
  • Lead and participate in departmental human resources projects and initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
