Responsibilities
  • Manage and direct accounting operations for assigned entities, including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and payroll accounting.
  • Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close for subsidiary entities, ensuring accuracy, consistent policy application, and adherence to deadlines.
  • Direct accounting policies and procedures and maintain audit-ready documentation across entities.
  • Oversee accounts receivable and vendor billing, including intercompany billing and shared-services charges across the company group.
  • Improve accounting systems and processes, including ERP optimization and use of AI and emerging tools to streamline close and reporting.
  • Manage multi-entity consolidation, including intercompany eliminations, equity-method and minority-interest treatment, and the consolidated reporting package.
  • Direct monthly reporting packages, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and cost-accounting profit and loss statements, under US GAAP.
  • Manage annual audits, reviews, and audited and reviewed financial statements for the entities, serving as the primary contact for the external firm.
  • Prepare financial results and analysis for the CFO, entity presidents, boards, board committees, and physician and corporate shareholders, presenting in coordination with the CFO.
  • Own finalization and approval of annual operating and capital budgets for assigned entities, in partnership with operational leaders and the Director of Accounting.
  • Develop forecasts, long-range plans, and proformas to support the CFO’s evaluation of acquisitions, new ventures, capital investments, and other strategic scenarios.
  • Review variance analyses against budget and prior periods, identify root causes, and recommend corrective action.
  • Build and maintain complex financial models and scenario analyses, translating results into decision-ready recommendations for leadership.
  • Manage cost accounting, including cost and profitability analysis by company, service line, and location.
  • Direct development and maintenance of labor budgets and labor charges, and manage allocation of labor and shared costs among entities.
  • Manage application service pricing models with IT to ensure shared technology and service costs are accurately charged across the company group.
  • Manage financial mechanics and accounting for shareholder buy-ins and buy-outs.
  • Support share-price determination and manage shareholder notes receivable, including amortization, interest, and balance tracking.
  • Coordinate entity valuations and appraisals, working with external valuation specialists as needed.
  • Manage shareholder and member distributions, including calculation, documentation, and timing in coordination with the CFO.
  • Oversee cash management and bank reconciliations for assigned entities in coordination with banking partners.
  • Oversee credit facilities, including lines of credit and equipment financing, and monitor compliance with banking covenants under entity credit agreements.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, valuation firms, banks, and vendors, and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Review staff-prepared financial information and workpapers for external audits, income tax preparation, and regulatory or agency requests, including excise and other compliance filings.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor the accounting and payroll teams, supporting staff development and continuity of operations.
  • Set and review the work of the Director of Accounting, Payroll Manager, and their teams against professional standards.
  • Partner across departments and entities to develop financial strategies supporting organizational goals.
  • Back up and support the CFO in cross-entity initiatives and interactions with shareholders, boards, and executive teams.
  • Identify accounting issues, errors, or risks and resolve them independently or escalate them with a recommended solution.
  • Take on special financial projects and other responsibilities assigned by the CFO.
  • Treat clients with dignity and respect, provide customer service, conform to Joint Commission and HIPAA regulations, and comply with requirements for protected health information.
  • Demonstrate the organization’s core values and follow departmental standards and personnel policies, including professional conduct, teamwork, communication, and assisting where needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • Public accounting experience, ideally auditing or reviewing annual financial statements at a Big Four, national, or strong regional firm, is strongly preferred.
  • A master's degree in Accounting or Finance, or an MBA, is preferred.
  • Experience with shareholder equity, valuations, distributions, or partnership and physician-owned structures is strongly preferred.
  • Healthcare or professional services industry experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Outlook, Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio, and Publisher), Workday, Webex, and Internet/Intranet is highly desired.
