  • A minimum of 5 years of applicable Environmental, Health, and Safety leadership experience.
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent is preferred.
  • BCSP certification with at least the Construction Health and Safety Technician credential is required.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA 1926 requirements, especially high-risk construction activities, is required.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 70E fundamentals is required.
  • Working knowledge of lockout/tagout and energy isolation practices is required.
  • Working knowledge of electrical hazard controls in construction environments is required.
  • Ability to lead field safety execution, coach teams, and work effectively across operations and subcontractor groups.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency in verbal and written English is required.
  • Ability to travel and work at assigned project locations as needed.
  • Ability to perform frequent physical activity indoors and outdoors, including standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally handle heavier loads with assistance.
Responsibilities
  • Lead all Environmental, Health, and Safety functions on the assigned battery energy storage system project site.
  • Provide direction and oversight to site safety staff, including Safety Coordinators and Safety Professionals, if applicable.
  • Implement and enforce the Site-Specific Safety Plan, standard operating procedures, and battery energy storage system Standard Work Instructions.
  • Partner with project leadership to align safety execution with schedule, manpower, and construction milestones.
  • Implement and monitor safety controls specific to battery energy storage system installation and commissioning activities.
  • Support field execution of electrical safety requirements, including NFPA 70E expectations, lockout/tagout, barricading, and energy isolation controls.
  • Coordinate with electrical and commissioning teams to identify and manage risks related to interconnection, testing, and energization activities.
  • Reinforce safe practices around high-energy systems, temporary conditions, and changing site hazards.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA, state, and local safety requirements, Moss company standards, and client expectations.
  • Support implementation of Environmental, Health, and Safety compliance plans, training initiatives, and recordkeeping requirements.
  • Conduct routine field audits, inspections, and observations to verify control effectiveness and safe work practices.
  • Maintain current safety documentation and support site readiness for internal and client audits.
  • Lead emergency response planning and execution for the job site.
  • Lead and support incident reporting, investigations, and root cause analysis for site events and near misses.
  • Ensure timely completion of corrective actions and verify their effectiveness in the field.
  • Monitor leading and lagging indicators to identify trends and proactively address risk.
  • Conduct safety stand-downs, coaching, and field engagement as needed.
  • Build working relationships with project operations, subcontractors, and client safety representatives.
  • Support site-level safety meetings, client interface meetings, and coordination with corporate and regional safety leadership.
  • Lead by influence and collaboration while maintaining accountability to Moss safety expectations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience supporting battery energy storage system, solar, substation, or industrial electrical projects is strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish proficiency is preferred.
