Requirements
  • Experience with Jewish Orthodox culture and religious practices.
  • Familiarity with individual service and care plans, including IPOP, Life Plan, Staff Action Plan, and Behavior Plan.
  • Ability to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Ability to follow computer documentation programs and chart outcomes and observations.
  • Ability to move and stand for prolonged periods and perform physically demanding tasks, including pushing people in wheelchairs.
  • Basic written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • A valid New York State driver's license may be required depending on the position.
  • A tuberculosis test is mandatory for most positions.
  • Interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to take initiative.
  • Ability to maintain a kosher home environment and a Jewish environment.
  • Ability to complete required trainings and maintain certifications and driving authorization.
Responsibilities
  • Assist individuals with activities of daily living and independent living skills, including grooming, toileting, showering, housekeeping, budgeting, and shopping, according to their support needs and plan documents.
  • Promote and advocate for individualized services and implement them according to outlined plans.
  • Provide protective oversight in accordance with each individual's Plan of Protective Oversight.
  • Accompany individuals on community outings.
  • Communicate with program staff through communication log books and staff meetings.
  • Work collaboratively with staff to maintain a positive and encouraging environment.
  • Adhere to federal, state, and city regulations regarding service provision and documentation.
  • Report incidents according to HASC Center policies and procedures.
  • Conduct fire drills and document the results according to supervisor instructions.
  • Attend ongoing staff meetings and trainings to increase knowledge of individuals and best practices.
  • Transport individuals in agency vehicles as needed.
  • Report to alternate work locations, such as hospitals or doctors' offices, when required.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by the supervisor.
Desired Qualifications
  • Some college education.
  • Work or life experience with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
