Requirements
  • 16 or older
  • Have the right to live and work permanently in the UK
  • Have ordinary residence in Scotland
  • Four SQA Higher Grades at BBBB including Computing or Maths; National 5 grade C in Maths/Life skills Maths/Applications of Maths and English if not taken at Higher
  • Foundation Apprenticeship in an IT subject at SCQF Level 6 plus two SQA Highers at Grade BB
  • Modern Apprenticeship at SCQF Level 6-7 in an ICT/Digital related discipline
  • HNC with C in the graded unit in a related discipline
  • Sufficient recognition of prior learning (RPL) through industry-related experience, qualifications, and informal learning
  • Before confirming offer, a Basic Disclosure check will be undertaken by Disclosure Scotland and entry requirements will be confirmed with Napier University
  • You will study for the degree alongside your job, spending 80% of your time in work and 20% in university
  • You will study on a Graduate Apprenticeship degree programme towards a BSc (Hons) Software Development at Edinburgh Napier University
  • The programme focuses on gathering, storage, retrieval and analysis of information and software development including real-time, mobile and large-scale enterprise systems
Responsibilities
  • Day-to-day support of the systems the team manages
  • Working with colleagues to investigate business requirements
  • Developing solutions to business problems using no-code / low-code / some-code systems
  • Testing new solutions before implementation
  • Looking at data to help colleagues understand their business better
  • Helping with updates and upgrades to our systems
  • Considering how we can use new technologies like automation and AI
  • Working with lots of different people in the Council to help them in their jobs and with systems used by the public
