Requirements
  • Must have graduated from an approved Medical Assistant program and have a current Medical Assistant Certified license issued from Washington State Department of Health.
  • Must be MA-Certified or possess an MA-Interim License and pass the exam within the 90 day probationary period.
  • Must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR within 90 days of hire date and maintain current BLS CPR throughout employment.
  • Must adhere to the Sea Mar Employee Health Screening Policy.
  • Pre-hire and annual employee health screening required.
  • Annual influenza vaccine required. Only exception is for employees with a medical or religious exemption approved by Administration; exempt employees must wear a mask during flu season.
  • Must be able to read and write proficiently in English; Spanish preferred.
  • Must be able to interact with diverse populations; strong customer service.
  • Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; learn SharePoint, Arcadia, OneHealth Portal, HealthPlanFinder, electronic health records and EKG monitors as needed; fully proficient with Sea Mar’s patient management and electronic health records systems before end of probationary period.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements including Joint Commission, National Patient Safety Goals, Department of Health, Clinical Quality Measures, Patient-Centered Medical Home, Quality Improvement and other contractual obligations.
  • Must be able to see an average of 18/21 patients per day with assigned provider; able to manage patient flow and care gaps.
Responsibilities
  • Track and document all clinical measures and outcomes (Clinical Quality Measures, Meaningful Use, etc.); perform thorough Electronic Health Record reviews to ensure all clinical measures/outcomes are addressed for each patient.
  • Coordinate and process all patient referrals, for internal and external services; collaborate with Referral Coordinators as per protocols.
  • Work collaboratively with care team members to provide care based on the Patient-Centered Medical Home model; support improved health outcomes and patient experience.
  • Assist providers in recording patient subjective information and vital signs; prepare patients for visits and conduct rooming.
  • Administer injections and distribute oral medications under physician orders; ensure medication administration is documented.
  • Assist with charting during office visits; maintain documentation and communication for comprehensive care coordination.
  • Perform venipuncture; maintain room readiness and patient flow; perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Participate in quality improvement audits, organizational committees, and provide shadowing opportunities for new staff as needed.
  • Complete all point-of-care referrals for specialty care and care coordination; obtain laboratory tests and results; obtain patient notes from hospitals and other providers.
  • Ensure infection control and standard precautions; maintain biohazard waste management; sanitize exam rooms and stock supplies.
  • Utilize AIDET to provide excellent customer service; communicate provider delays to front desk and patients; assist with pharmacy requests.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bilingual English/Spanish strongly desired.
  • Ambulatory care experience preferred.
  • Spanish language proficiency preferred; ability to read and interpret in Spanish.
  • Previous experience in Family Medicine preferred.
  • Ability to read and write proficiently in English (also listed as desirable).
  • Willingness to learn and become proficient in Sea Mar’s electronic health record systems and practice management applications by end of probation.
  • Fully proficient with Sea Mar’s patient management and electronic health records systems before end of probationary period.
