Requirements
  • Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Has a portfolio demonstrating significant involvement as a practicing artist, graphic designer, web designer, photographer, videographer, or animator.
  • Has professional certification in the field, five years of industry-related work experience, or completed academic preparation appropriate to the program.
  • For VISC 1XX courses, meets the Visual Communication program standard, or possesses a portfolio demonstrating significant involvement as a practicing designer and two of the following: an earned associate degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution, five years of industry-related work experience, or a current Workplace Specialist License granted by the Indiana Department of Education in a directly related field.
  • Submits unofficial academic transcripts and a cover letter with the application.
  • Provides official academic transcripts at the time of hire directly from the issuing institution to the Office of Human Resources.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver assigned classes using pedagogy and technology that support student learning and align with college loading policy, course objectives, and program learning outcomes.
  • Facilitate student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with college policy and course objectives.
  • Use available technology to enhance instructional methods.
  • Develop and maintain course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and instructional materials, and maintain accurate student records, grades, and other required documentation.
  • Engage students in meaningful and productive ways that impact learning and support a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College.
  • Develop and implement active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with curricular learning.
  • Interact professionally and cooperatively with students and co-workers and comply with college policies, campus guidelines, and expectations.
  • Know and implement emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs, and all learning environments.
  • Use a Learning Management System such as Canvas to facilitate teaching, learning, assessment, and communication.
  • Perform instructional duties that facilitate student learning in assigned classes.
  • Submit requested information within established timelines.
  • Address student concerns and consult with the program chair to resolve issues.
  • Meet all scheduled classes for the contracted course.
  • Notify the program chair in the event of an emergency.
  • Create a learning environment that helps students reach their goals and provide effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi.
  • Conduct responsibilities within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
Desired Qualifications
  • Portfolio work experience with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, photography, publication design, print design, or vector graphics.
