Requirements
  • Certified Nursing Assistant license from the Washington State Department of Health or a comparable certification from another state
  • Must pass a Washington State Patrol background check
  • Must sign a permanent oath of confidentiality covering all client related information
  • Speak, write, and read proficiently in English; ability to speak and interpret in Spanish and/or Russian is preferred and may be required depending upon clinic needs
  • Basic mathematical skills including converting pounds to kilograms and performing standard arithmetic
  • Familiarity with multiple software systems including Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Arcadia, One Health Portal, HealthPlan Finder, and proprietary systems such as electronic medical records and EKG monitors; proficiency with agency practice management and electronic health record systems by end of probation
  • Understanding of mental health and chemical dependency treatment
  • Good organizational and communication skills; professionalism and appropriate boundaries; ability to work on a team; openness to constructive criticism
  • No history of alcohol or other drug misuse for three years prior to employment and no misuse during employment; no felony conviction within the last seven years; no substantiated child abuse and/or crimes involving physical harm to others; not a perpetrator of substantiated child abuse

  • Must pass a background check; Washington State Patrol background check required
  • Education and Licenses: Certified Nursing Assistant license; license/certification from Washington State Department of Health or comparable certification from another state

  • Pre-hire and annual employee health screening; TB test at hire and annually thereafter; annual influenza vaccine required unless exempt; exempt employees must wear mask during flu season; mask exemption allowed with permission of Administration

Responsibilities
  • Administrative duties: Assists in ensuring agency compliance with WACs, RCWs, laws, regulations, and contracts; prepare charts, prescription refill requests and paperwork for psychiatric prescribers; ensure medication storage, maintenance, dispensation and waste logs comply with Sea Mar policies; report non-compliance; ensure medical, nursing, health & safety and personnel policies followed
  • Clinical duties: Assists psychiatric staff with client flow and quality of care; performs routine checks and monitors clients for unusual or harmful behavior and reports observations; prepares patient for visits including collecting subjective data and vital signs; works as part of integrated care team; provides routine care to mentally impaired or emotionally disturbed clients under direction; encourages participation in social, educational, recreational, and employment activities; processes medication refill requests and faxes prescriptions; checks EHR for validity; collaborates with prescriber; handles medication history in EHR; fields client questions about side effects and refills; facilitates enrollment in prescription assistance programs; provides age-appropriate care; screen for suicide risk and inform prescriber; maintain confidentiality; provide advocacy; assist with service access tasks; makes referrals to agencies; maintains case management files; participates in interdisciplinary team case reviews; promotes positive team approach; welcomes new staff; maintain professional standards; complete daily record keeping; report unusual incidents; report suspected child/elder abuse as mandated; support full-time provider to see average of 14 patients per day; assist with GYN exams, I&Ds and minor procedures; communicate provider delays to front desk and patient; use aseptic technique; complete point of care referrals for specialty care and care coordination; assist with obtaining lab tests and results; maintain positive relationships with coworkers and community organizations; ensure customer service at each visit; coordinate with front desk on delays; demonstrate proficiency with EHR and Practice Management applications; comply with regulatory requirements including Joint Commission, NPSG, Department of Health, HEDIS, PCMH, QI and contracts; demonstrate CPR; measure and record fluid and input/output; recognize and respond to emotional, social, cultural and mental health needs; address behavioral needs; perform duties under WAC 246-841-400; supervise and participate in supervision; perform duties in accordance with Medical Assistant role as applicable
