Hello Clever has secured strategic investment led by New York-based VC firm Variant, alongside Easygo and strategic operators. The company is approaching $100 million in annual recurring revenue while operating cashflow positive. Hello Clever is building an intelligence layer for global payments that determines how transactions should move across different rails—cards, real-time bank networks, wallets, stablecoins and local payment methods. Rather than processing transactions through a single network, the platform connects multiple payment rails and matches each transaction with the optimal movement method. Variant, a New York firm investing in markets and infrastructure, views the investment as backing critical global financial infrastructure. The partnership will support Hello Clever's global expansion, particularly in the United States, as payment systems undergo fundamental transition toward multiple coexisting rails rather than one dominant network.

Variant backs Hello Clever to build the exchange for money movement. Sydney, Australia - Hello Clever today announced a new strategic investment led by Variant, alongside Easygo and a group of strategic operators, as the company accelerates its ambition to build the exchange for global money movement. The investment comes as Hello Clever approaches a major milestone: racing toward $100 million in annual recurring revenue while operating cashflow positive. Variant is a Tier-1 VC firm based in New York investing in markets, infrastructure and applications that expand user agency. Its investment in Hello Clever reflects a shared conviction that the infrastructure underpinning global payments is entering a fundamental transition. For decades, payments have largely been built around a relatively small number of networks. That world is changing. Real-time bank rails are expanding globally. Local payment methods are becoming increasingly important. Wallets are proliferating. Stablecoins are emerging as a new settlement layer. And consumers and businesses increasingly expect money to move instantly, regardless of geography. The result is not a world with one dominant payment rail. It is a world with more ways to move money than ever before. And that creates a new problem. Hello Clever is one of the fastest AI-native payments platforms to reach $100M ARR. From processing the transaction to deciding how it moves. Historically, a merchant's payments decision was relatively straightforward: how do I accept a card? Today, the same transaction could potentially move through a card network, a real-time bank rail, a wallet, a local payment method or, increasingly, a stablecoin-based rail. Each comes with different economics, settlement speeds, conversion characteristics, liquidity requirements and geographic availability. Hello Clever believe the next generation of payments infrastructure therefore won't simply process transactions. It will decide how they should move. That is what Hello Clever is building. Its platform connects businesses to real-time payment infrastructure and local payment methods across markets through a single integration. As that network expands, its ambition is to create an intelligent layer capable of matching each transaction with the best available way to move money. Hello Clever think of it as an exchange for money movement. On one side is demand: merchants, platforms and eventually agents that need to move money. On the other is supply: banks, card networks, real-time payment systems, wallets, stablecoin infrastructure and other payment providers. Hello Clever sits between them. Its job is to make the match. Monetizing the match. The distinction matters. Traditional payment processors make money by keeping transactions flowing through infrastructure they control. Hello Clever is building Hello Clever differently. Hello Clever don't believe Hello Clever need to own every rail. Hello Clever want to build the intelligence, connectivity and infrastructure that determines which rail should win each transaction. That neutrality allows Hello Clever to integrate increasingly diverse forms of money movement while giving merchants a single interface through which to access them. Over time, Hello Clever believe payment routing becomes a marketplace. And Hello Clever monetizes the match. This is also why Variant is such a natural partner for its next chapter. Variant has spent years investing in markets and financial infrastructure, including the emerging stablecoin ecosystem. As stablecoins, real-time bank payments and traditional payment networks increasingly coexist, Hello Clever believe the opportunity shifts from building another individual rail to building the infrastructure capable of connecting them. "The future of payments isn't going to be cards versus bank payments versus stablecoins. They're all going to exist. The much bigger question is who decides which one should fulfil a transaction. We believe that decision becomes an exchange. Variant understands markets deeply, and that makes them an incredibly exciting partner for what we're building." - Caroline Tran, Co-Founder & CEO, Hello Clever Building from strength. This investment is not about funding a business in search of product-market fit. Hello Clever is cashflow positive and racing toward $100 million in ARR. Justin Grooms, President, Hello Clever Businesses are already using Hello Clever to access real-time account-to-account payments and local payment methods across multiple markets, while its infrastructure continues to expand across Australia, Asia and the United States. The new capital gives Hello Clever the ability to accelerate that momentum. Hello Clever will continue investing in its global payment network, regulatory infrastructure, US expansion, product and engineering teams, and the intelligence layer that sits across every transaction. Hello Clever is also bringing more strategic people onto the Hello Clever cap table - investors and operators who understand payments, markets, infrastructure and what it takes to build a truly global technology company. Variant joins Easygo, and its strategic angels in backing that next chapter. "The last generation of payments companies was built around owning a piece of the stack and charging a toll every time money passed through it. Hello Clever think the next generation looks very different. There will be more rails, more forms of money and more ways to settle and the value shifts to the intelligence that can connect them and make the right decision in real time. Hello Clever is building that intelligence layer. Hello Clever is creating a network of direct connections where money, identity and intelligence meet, and where Hello Clever monetize the match rather than the distance a transaction travels. Variant understands that shift deeply. Having them alongside Hello Clever as Hello Clever scale globally, particularly as Hello Clever expand in the United States is incredibly exciting." - Justin Grooms, President, Hello Clever The next era of money movement. Payments infrastructure has historically been built as a collection of networks. Cards have their networks. Banks have theirs. Real-time payment systems are largely domestic. Wallets have their own ecosystems. Stablecoins are creating entirely new ones. The next generation of financial infrastructure needs to make those systems interoperable and intelligent. Hello Clever believe every transaction will eventually become a decision: Where should this money move? Which rail should carry it? What provides the best combination of cost, speed, conversion, risk and settlement? And increasingly: Can software make that decision automatically? That's the problem Hello Clever is building Hello Clever to solve. "Payments are becoming increasingly fragmented across cards, real-time bank networks, wallets, stablecoins and local payment methods. We believe the opportunity is shifting from simply building another rail to building the intelligence and infrastructure that connects them. Hello Clever has built an impressive business at remarkable speed, but what excites us most is where Caroline, Justin and the team are taking it next: a neutral venue that can intelligently match each transaction with the best way to move money. We believe that has the potential to become an important piece of global financial infrastructure." - Daniel Barabander, Investment Partner and Chief Legal Officer, Variant Hello Clever started by making payments faster, smarter and more rewarding. Today, Hello Clever is building something much larger. The exchange for money movement. And Hello Clever is only getting started.
