Proparco and Grupo Enhol partner to advance Peru's solar energy transition with landmark Illa project.

Proparco and Grupo Enhol partner to advance Peru's solar energy transition with landmark Illa project. Published on September 24, 2026 Proparco and Santander join forces to support Grupo Enhol's 467 MWp Illa solar project in Peru, strengthening the country's clean energy transition and mobilizing long-term financing for critical renewable energy infrastructure. Proparco has signed a USD 40 million senior loan in favor of Grupo Enhol to support the financing of the Illa project, a large-scale solar photovoltaic plant and associated transmission infrastructure in southern Peru. Developed by Grupo Enhol, a Spanish renewable energy sponsor with more than 27 years of experience in the sector, the project will have a total installed capacity of 467 MWp and is expected to become the largest solar power plant in Peru when it enters into operation in 2027. The project is expected to contribute around 2.5% of the country's national electricity supply and support the diversification of Peru's energy mix. The financing is part of a USD 289 million syndicated financing, including a USD 250 million mini-perm facility fully structured and underwritten by Banco Santander, alongside Proparco and several other development finance institutions: Instituto de Crédito Oficial E.P.E. (ICO), Corporación Financiera de Desarrollo S.A. (COFIDE), Compañía Española de Financiación del Desarrollo, COFIDES, S.A., S.M.E. (COFIDES), Fondo para Inversiones en el Exterior, F.C.P.J. (FIEX) and Development Finance Institute Canada Inc. (FinDev Canada)... The DFIs are providing financing with a seven-year maturity, supporting the project from construction through to operational maturity. The mini-perm structure is designed to secure financing during the project's higher-risk construction and ramp-up phases, while preparing the asset for access to private capital markets once operational. This approach is fully aligned with Proparco's mandate to mobilize private capital and reduce risks associated with essential infrastructure projects. The transaction also marks Proparco's first infrastructure financing collaboration with Banco Santander, opening new opportunities for cooperation on infrastructure projects across the Andean region. The Illa project is fully aligned with Peru's energy transition objectives and its ambition to increase the share of non-hydropower renewable energy to 30% of the country's energy mix by 2030. This objective is particularly relevant in a context where electricity demand is expected to reach 75 TWh, driven by industrial and mining activities as well as rural electrification. By adding significant new solar generation capacity and associated transmission infrastructure, the project will contribute to the diversification, resilience and decarbonization of Peru's electricity system. This solar plant is expected to avoid around 369,000 t CO[2]eq annually and contribute to broader socio-economic benefits, including improved access to essential energy services for an estimated 263,000 people and the creation or preservation of approximately 2,425 indirect jobs in Peru.

Santander Bank partners with Miami Dolphins and Hard Rock Stadium as it expands its South Florida presence.

Santander Bank partners with Miami Dolphins and Hard Rock Stadium as it expands its South Florida presence. 24/09/2026 11:14 CEST Partnership builds on Santander's broader investment in Miami and continued U.S. growth Santander Red Zone will bring the partnership to life throughout the Dolphins' 2026 season MIAMI, September 24, 2026. Santander Bank, N.A. ("the Bank") - one of the leading retail and commercial banks in the United States and part of global financial leader Banco Santander ("Santander" or "Santander Group") - today announced a partnership with the Miami Dolphins and Hard Rock Stadium for the 2026 NFL season, supporting the Bank's brand as it continues to invest in South Florida and expands its presence in the region. As a "Proud Partner of the Miami Dolphins and Hard Rock Stadium," Santander Bank will be featured throughout the season, highlighted by the Santander Red Zone. Each time the Dolphins offense crosses its opponent's 20-yard line and moves closer to the end zone during a home game, the Santander Red Zone will come to life across Hard Rock Stadium videoboards and displays as the team closes in on a touchdown. The partnership also includes in-stadium branding, digital marquee visibility near Hard Rock Stadium, and hospitality opportunities for Santander clients and colleagues. "Miami is an important market for Santander Bank and one where we see tremendous opportunity for the future across all of Santander's U.S. businesses," said Jason Mock, Head of Retail Banking, Santander US. "We're excited to celebrate the Miami Dolphins alongside their passionate fanbase and continue finding new ways to build relationships with customers, clients, and communities across South Florida." Santander's history in Miami dates back to 1979, when it opened its first private banking office in the city. Today, Miami plays an increasingly important role in connecting Santander's customers and clients with its global network as it deepens its investment in the market. Santander broke ground earlier this year on 1401 Brickell by Santander, a 50-story mixed-use development that will become home to its employees and businesses in Miami. In recent years, Santander Bank unveiled at the Miami Worldcenter the first Openbank physical location in the United States, and it began operating its second U.S.-based Santander Work Café in Coconut Grove. "The Miami Dolphins and Hard Rock Stadium provide an incredible platform to bring the Santander brand to life," said Cenk Bulbul, Chief Marketing Officer, Santander US. "We're excited to work together to create memorable experiences through the Santander Red Zone and other game-day activations that bring Santander closer to fans." "Santander's growing presence and investment in South Florida make them a natural partner for the Miami Dolphins and Hard Rock Stadium," said Jason Green, Executive Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer, Miami Dolphins and Hard Rock Stadium. "As they continue to deepen their connection to this community, we're excited to provide new opportunities for them to connect with our passionate fans, such as the Santander Red Zone." The Bank's partnership with the Miami Dolphins builds upon its existing relationship with the region through the Formula 1 Hard Rock Miami Grand Prix as the Official Retail Banking Partner of Formula 1. Throughout the season, Santander Bank will reach millions of fans through the Santander Red Zone, in-stadium branding, digital signage, and other activations at Hard Rock Stadium.
