About the job

Requirements
  • At least 5 years of product management experience shipping commercially deployed physical products such as robots, autonomous vehicles, industrial machinery, heavy equipment, or comparable products.
  • Direct experience in industrial environments including warehousing, logistics, distribution, manufacturing, material handling, construction, or similar settings.
  • A track record of independently owning a product area, setting its direction, defending it, and accepting responsibility for its outcomes.
  • Comfort working in the field on customer sites for days at a time.
  • Strong written communication skills for requirements, decision memoranda, and customer synthesis.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time.
Responsibilities
  • Own the industrial product line end to end, including market definition, use cases, requirements, roadmap priorities, and the supporting business case, while being accountable for volume, mix, and profitable growth.
  • Drive the success of active industrial deployments by working directly on-site with customers in live production environments.
  • Conduct customer and site discovery by observing operations and speaking with supervisors and operators, then translate findings into requirements for engineering.
  • Advise the commercial team on target segments, fit and no-fit criteria, return-on-investment cases, and proof points for industrial deals.
  • Inform pricing, packaging, and positioning for the industrial segment.
  • Own the product side of the integration strategy so the robots work with systems already used by industrial customers.

Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with autonomous mobile robots or automated material handling.
  • Familiarity with yard management, fleet management, or warehouse management system and enterprise resource planning integrations.
  • Background in agriculture or outdoor equipment.
  • Exposure to operational site and product safety.

About the company

Burro by Augean Robotics develops autonomous, vision-based robots to assist farm workers. The flagship Burro uses on-board cameras and sensors to perceive fields, plan paths, and perform tasks alongside laborers, with operators monitoring through service agreements. Revenue comes from selling Burro units plus ongoing maintenance, service contracts, and software updates. The goal is to reduce dependence on seasonal labor and boost productivity for large-scale growers in crops like table grapes, blueberries, and nursery crops.

What believers are saying

  • Burro closed a $24M Series B in June 2026, signaling investor conviction.
  • Petitti Family Farms expanded Burro fleets in 2025 and 2026, proving repeatable deployments.
  • Grande 44 launched June 2026, opening industrial and outdoor markets beyond agriculture.

What critics are saying

  • Hardware scaling burns cash; June 2026’s $24M Series B finances limited runway.
  • Specialty-crop demand concentrates in grapes, berries, and nurseries, exposing Burro to adoption slowdowns.
  • John Deere, Kubota, and niche robotics rivals can outspend Burro before Grande 44 ships.

What makes Burro unique

  • Burro’s Pop-Up Autonomy targets rugged specialty-crop logistics, not generic row-crop autonomy.
  • Burro combines vision-based robots, GPS, and teach-and-repeat workflows for crews.
  • Burro’s portfolio now spans harvest assist, towing, transport, mowing, and spraying.

Burro's Grande 44 autonomous robot ships globally, backed by 800 robots and one million hours

Philadelphia-based Burro has made Grande 44, its most powerful autonomous work platform, generally available. The robot is shipping through the company's direct sales team and a network of 50 dealers across 17 countries. Grande 44 opened for pre-order in June, and production began in August. It can tow up to 6,000 lbs, carry up to 1,500 lbs, and tow, mow, spray, and patrol. Burro says it works on arrival, with no changes to a customer's facilities. Burro has deployed more than 800 robots and logged more than one million autonomous hours. At Mesa Vineyards, Burro robots cut mowing costs from $22 to $5 per acre. "The industry has plenty of prototypes and very few products," said chief executive officer Charlie Andersen.

Burro's Grande 44 autonomous robot named one of TIME's best inventions of 2026

Burro, a Philadelphia-based robotics company, said its Grande 44 autonomous work platform has been named one of TIME's Best Inventions of 2026 in the Agriculture category. TIME's editors pick 300 inventions each year. Grande 44 is Burro's sixth and newest model. It offers up to 6,000 lbs of towing capacity, 1,500 lbs of payload, 44 HP of peak power, and up to 40 kWh of battery capacity. It can tow, transport, mow, spray, and patrol without changes to a customer's facility. More than 800 Burro robots operate in 17 countries, having logged over one million autonomous hours in vineyards, nurseries, orchards, and industrial sites. "Our customers are proving the value of our robots every day, in the mud, the heat and the dust," said chief executive officer Charlie Andersen.

The 7 Biggest Farm Robotics Deals Of 2024 So Far

The farm robotics sector has shown some resilience in 2024 and continues to bring innovative products to market, despite the challenging year for fundraising. In the first half of 2024, the AgFunder-defined Farm Robotics, Mechanization, and Equipment category has raised nearly $399 million, a 21.1 % decline from $505.5 million in H1 2023. [Disclosure: AgFunderNews’ parent company is AgFunder.]. However, this drop needs to be considered in the context of a general investment contraction that has characterized the last 18 months. Overall agrifoodtech investment was also down in H1 2024: 12.5% compared to H1 2023. The drop in funding to the robotics sector is more or less in line with general trends
