Requirements
  • Strong embedded Linux development experience on FPGA system-on-chip platforms.
  • Experience configuring, building, and deploying embedded Linux distributions using Yocto, Buildroot, or similar tools, including integration of board-support packages for FPGA-based platforms.
  • Experience with board bring-up, bootloaders, the Linux kernel, device-tree configuration, drivers, and software deployment.

Responsibilities
  • Develop embedded Linux software, firmware, and board-support packages for FPGA-based embedded systems, particularly Xilinx FPGA system-on-chip platforms, using C/C++, Rust, and related tools.
  • Develop and deploy embedded Linux distributions using Yocto, Buildroot, or similar tools.
  • Develop device-tree configurations, low-level drivers, and hardware interfaces for FPGA peripherals, sensors, communications devices, and microcontroller subsystems.
  • Integrate FPGA system-on-chip platforms, microcontrollers, electronics, and higher-level software into robust control, acquisition, timing, signal-processing, and communications systems.
  • Perform board bring-up, hardware–firmware integration, automated testing, debugging, and validation using Python and benchtop test equipment.
  • Produce reliable, maintainable software and clear technical documentation, supporting products from prototype through deployment and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure technical objectives and deadlines are met.
  • Work within multidisciplinary teams of software engineers, electronics engineers, physicists, and technicians.
  • Communicate technical risks, findings, and design decisions clearly.
  • Adapt to changing requirements and manage technical ambiguity effectively.
  • Take ownership of assigned work from requirements definition through implementation, testing, and delivery.

Quantum gravity sensing could help map underground mineral deposits before costly drilling begins in a 2027 Colorado test. Neutral-atom quantum computing firm Infleqtion plans to test a quantum sensing system in Colorado in 2027 that could help locate critical mineral deposits underground before exploration companies spend heavily on drilling. The company says its quantum gravity gradiometry (QGG) technology can detect extremely small variations in Earth's gravitational field. Those changes can reveal differences in underground density and geological structures that may point to potential mineral deposits. The planned field demonstration will test whether the technology can provide useful subsurface information earlier in the mineral exploration process. Infleqtion is evaluating several possible sites in Colorado's Third Congressional District, with the final location and timing still to be announced. If successful, the approach could give exploration teams another way to narrow down promising areas before bringing in drilling equipment. That matters because finding and developing domestic sources of critical minerals can be expensive, time-consuming, and uncertain. Quantum sensing sees underground. QGG works by measuring tiny changes in gravity caused by variations in the density of material beneath the ground. Different geological formations produce different gravitational signatures, allowing sensors to build a picture of what may be below the surface. The technology does not replace drilling or existing geological surveys. Instead, Infleqtion says it could be used alongside established geological and geophysical techniques to identify areas that deserve closer investigation.
