Responsibilities
Advise Department of Health and Human Services staff on child protection matters.
Review child protection petitions for legal sufficiency and approve or deny them.
Advise police regarding case investigations and search warrants.
Review police reports and approve or deny the filing of charges against juveniles.
Conduct pre-trial conferences.
Appear at child protection and delinquency hearings as needed.
Arrange for service of process in child protection cases.
Prepare and present court cases, including motions and trials.
Prepare and present termination of parental rights petitions in court.
Represent petitioners at Probate Court mental commitment hearings.
Attend Family Recovery Court meetings.
Serve as a representative in Van Buren County Treatment Courts.
Represent the Secretary of State at driver license hearings.
Appear at PPO arraignments and represent petitioners at PPO hearings.

JOB SUMMARY:Serve as assistant to the Prosecuting Attorney in representing the People of the State of Michigan in legal proceedings and prosecuting complaints in our Paw Paw office.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
