About the job
- A Master's degree in Nursing or another related program is required.
- Licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the State of Kansas is required.
- A Kansas or Missouri driver's license may be required depending on the department or agency.
- Reference and background screening is required.
- Within 60 days of hire, applicable DHE and EMS employees must provide immunization or immunity documentation, a medical contraindication, a written religious objection, or vaccination for measles, mumps, and rubella; tetanus, diphtheria, and acellular pertussis; and varicella.
- Employees may be called upon to assist other departments during a declared emergency situation.
- Conduct patient evaluations, including individual histories, assessments, and diagnostic evaluations, to determine medication and diagnostic-investigation needs.
- Determine appropriate interventions, treatments, or procedures and coordinate with service providers to develop, monitor, and adjust individualized treatment plans.
- Provide ongoing patient review, assessment, and medical management, including regular and emergent follow-up assessments.
- Supervise assessments and medication reviews conducted by nursing staff, as appropriate.
- Educate patients and parents or guardians about illnesses, treatment benefits and risks, alternative treatment options, and prognosis.
- Monitor patient outcomes and revise diagnoses or medication regimens as needed while coordinating services with other staff.
- Complete documentation for all direct services and prepare other client-related documentation.
- Review, approve, revise, and provide signatory responsibility for client-related documents prepared by other staff.
- Consult with non-medical and interdisciplinary professional staff regarding assigned patients.
- Provide consultation for patients with complex or unique needs.
- Provide professional education and training to other staff.
- Deliver preventive health services focused on reproductive health and family planning, comprehensive prenatal care, and sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment.
- Conduct routine employment and sports physicals to assess and certify fitness for work and athletic participation.
- Six months of experience as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in a related field of practice.

Johnson County earns "Triple Crown" award for financial reporting. July 30, 2026 Johnson County has earned its first "Triple Crown" award from the Government Finance Officers' Association. The award recognizes governments that secure three different honors from the organization representing public finance officers throughout the U.S. and Canada. Johnson County's recognitions include: * A Certificate of Achievement for its 2024 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report. This distinction is reserved for a select group of governments, with only about 20% of counties nationwide earning the distinction. It is the 38th consecutive year that Johnson County has earned this recognition. * An Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting for its 2024 Popular Annual Financial Report. The PAFR provides an accessible summary of the county's financial condition, aiming to improve transparency and readability for constituents and stakeholders. * The Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its 2024 Adopted Capital and Operating Budget, which recognizes local governments that prepare budget documents of the highest quality that reflect established industry guidelines and best practices. Johnson County is one of only 441 local governments to receive all three honors and earn this year's Triple Crown recognition from the GFOA. This is the first year that Johnson County received the award for its Popular Annual Financial Report, which highlights priorities of the Board of County Commissioners, accomplishments, economic and demographic data and features numerous charts and graphs to assist those without a finance background.
