Bombas

One-for-one sock and apparel donations

Overview

Bombas makes comfortable socks and apparel and sells them online. For every item purchased, Bombas donates a similar item to someone in need, addressing the demand for socks in homeless shelters. The company sells products including socks, slippers, and other apparel to a broad audience (men, women, and children) via bombas.com, with free US shipping on orders over $50. Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Bombas opened Georgetown on August 14, 2026, its largest store yet.
  • Nearly 500 DSW locations and Target expand reach beyond Bombas.com.
  • The July 2026 Nascentia Health donation and local store events reinforce brand trust.

What critics are saying

  • Target and DSW hand merchandising power to third parties, compressing margins and control.
  • Owned stores add real-estate and staffing complexity; a weak holiday 2026 rollout burns cash.
  • Mission dilution follows category sprawl beyond socks; customers stop paying for purpose.

What makes Bombas unique

  • One-for-one giving still anchors Bombas, with 2026 stores showcasing local donation partners.
  • Bombas owns comfort-first design across socks, underwear, tees, slippers, and slides.
  • Jason LaRose is pushing thoughtful omnichannel growth through owned stores, Target, and DSW.

Bombas named to TIME's 2026 list of Most Influential Social Good Companies.

Bombas named to TIME's 2026 list of Most Influential Social Good Companies. Great Hill Partners is pleased to share that Bombas has earned a place on TIME's inaugural list of the 10 Most Influential Social Good Companies of 2026. This recognition honors companies that are driving social impact through their innovation, influence, and leadership. Over a decade ago, Bombas launched with a simple but ambitious premise: sell 1 million pairs of its premium socks while donating an equal number to people experiencing homelessness. Socks, though often overlooked, are among the items most requested at homeless shelters and the least frequently donated. This set the stage for the company's "one purchased = one donated" model, which now extends beyond socks to include other apparel basics. To date, Bombas has contributed more than 200 million clothing items to communities across all fifty states through over 4,000 giving partner organizations. Bombas continues to expand into new channels through a wholesale partnership with Target and the opening of retail stores in New York, Florida, and Texas, bringing the brand to customers in new ways while extending the reach of its donation model. Great Hill Partners, LP is proud to support the Bombas team as it continues to scale both its business and its mission.

Bombas co-founder David Heath's American dream is helping others while building a thriving busines.

Bombas co-founder David Heath's American dream is helping others while building a thriving busines. Published May 31, 2026, 8:00 a.m. ET See more of our coverage in your search results. Through July 4, The Post, in conjunction with Milken Center for Advancing the American Dream, is featuring US citizens explaining what the American dream means to them in 2026. Among them is David Heath, the co-founder of Bombas, a company that sells high quality socks and underwear and donates one pair for every pair sold. Since launching in 2013, Bombas has surpassed $2.5 billion in lifetime sales and donated more than 200 million apparel items to those in need. My definition of the American dream is the ability to be in a place that has unlimited freedoms and [gives you] the ability to take whatever idea that you have - whether you have resources or don't have resources - and through hard work, grit and tenacity create something that can be very prosperous... I think a lot of natural born entrepreneurs [are] constantly out in the world with eyes and ears open, looking at the problems in the world and saying, how can we solve this with business? ... I came across a quote that said, socks are the number one most requested clothing item in homeless shelters... I was like, wow, that's pretty sad. Here's an item of clothing that I've never spent more than a few seconds a day thinking about. Yet, it's being perceived as a luxury item for over 600,000 people living right here in my own backyard... This was early 2011. Toms shoes was growing like crazy, really pioneering the one-for-one, buy one-give one movement... Our original thinking was, can we take a product that everybody wears, make it better, and, in turn, through our ability to sell more, have more impact on our community. So, we launched the product in August of 2013. After six months, we'd done about a million dollars in sales, and we were like, wow, this is much bigger than we had ever anticipated... The American Dream, is that anybody is capable of taking action... anybody who has an idea or who just wants something better out of their life, or for the lives of others. The American Dream Video Project showcases real stories that illuminate pathways to opportunity. Featured at the Milken Center for Advancing the American Dream (MCAAD), this series is part of the Center's celebration of America's 250th anniversary. MCAAD is Washington, DC's newest cultural institution, offering interactive exhibits and stories about achieving the American Dream. For more information, visit mcaad.org.

Ultra-Breathable triangle bralettes.

Ultra-Breathable triangle bralettes. Bombas has expanded its apparel line with the new SoftMesh Triangle Bralette. This wire-free, unpadded undergarment silhouette is constructed from an ultra-breathable mesh-like fabric that uses bonding techniques and stay-put trim to provide light support without traditional elastic compression. Bombas' SoftMesh Triangle Bralette prioritizes a delicate, airy aesthetic that complements transparency. This makes it suitable for advancing contemporary fashion sensibilities where lingerie is intentionally displayed as part of an outfit. The company maintains that the fabric is softer than standard mesh, which serves to address a common complaint that breathable undergarments often feel scratchy or cheap against the skin. The stay-put trim, on the other hand, solves a frequent frustration with triangle bralettes, which is that they tend to shift, ride up, or lose their shape after a few washes. Image Credit: Bombas Trend themes. * Ultra-breathable Lingerie - A shift toward airy, skin-friendly undergarments that prioritize ventilation and softness over compression, redefining everyday comfort standards. * Bonded-fabric Construction - The move from stitched elastics to bonding and seamless trims that maintain shape and fit while enabling lighter, less bulky silhouettes. * Lingerie-as-outerwear - Growing acceptance of visible lingerie elements integrated into outfits, supporting designs that balance transparency with refined aesthetics. Industry implications. * Apparel Manufacturing - Manufacturers are positioned to adopt new assembly techniques and tooling for bonded fabrics and stay-put trims to deliver consistent fit and durability. * Textile Materials - Innovations in softer, high-porosity meshes and hybrid yarns that reconcile breathability with hand feel could disrupt traditional performance-fabric offerings. * Retail Fashion E-commerce - Digital merchandising and fit information tailored to lightweight, unpadded silhouettes that rely on fabric performance rather than structure may reshape online lingerie sales.
