About the job

Requirements
  • Experience in data licensing, data monetization, or data marketplace businesses, with understanding of how data products are structured, valued, and sold.
  • Experience building a data platform, scoping one with engineers, or owning a product built on proprietary data; ability to specify product needs without a product manager intermediary.
  • Ability to reason about revenue, margin, and deal structure.
  • Working knowledge of large language models, retrieval-augmented generation architectures, and agent frameworks sufficient to make product decisions.
  • Ability to work with ambiguity, find needed data, speak directly with customers, and ship products.
Responsibilities
  • Own the business line and product, defining how ShopBack's proprietary data becomes a new venture.
  • Identify, structure, and close data licensing or data-as-a-service deals with merchants, partners, and platforms; determine how data is priced, packaged, and sold.
  • Define and ship the AI data product in collaboration with engineers, including multi-agent systems grounded in ShopBack's first-party behavioral and transaction data.
  • Design monetization models for AI-enhanced data products, including API access tiers and white-label agent deployments.
  • Shape the go-to-market narrative and pitch ShopBack's data capabilities to external partners, including through data syndication, data clean rooms, or programmatic data markets.
  • Rapidly validate commercial hypotheses by building working prototypes and testing them with real partners.
  • Measure success through gross merchandise value uplift, unlocked revenue, and advertiser retention.

About the company

ShopBack operates as a cashback platform that offers rewards and personalized deals to online shoppers in the Asia-Pacific region. It partners with e-commerce platforms and retailers to earn a commission on sales it drives, then shares a portion of that commission with users as cashback to encourage repeat purchases. The platform uses a browser extension to alert users to available cashback opportunities, simplifying the shopping process. Revenue comes from affiliate marketing, advertising, and data analytics services provided to partners. Unlike many single-market cashback sites, ShopBack covers multiple APAC markets and combines shopping rewards with personalized deals and partner data insights. The company’s goal is to increase customer loyalty and boost sales for its partners by making saving easy for shoppers.
