About the company

Swoop is building a super app for the African market, starting with on-demand food delivery in Nigeria. It connects users with local restaurants, grocery stores, and pharmacies to enable neighborhood-based deliveries. The app supports multiple payment methods, including bank transfers, debit/credit cards, a digital wallet (Swoop Wallet), and cash on delivery. Orders are placed through the app, merchants list items, and delivery partners bring the orders to customers. Swoop differentiates itself by tailoring to local market conditions and offering a broad payment mix (including cash and wallet) to fit diverse customer needs, along with plans to expand into financial services and other consumer categories beyond food. The company aims to grow into a wide-ranging Africa-focused super app that serves multiple categories and payment options, expanding from its Eswatini origins to Lagos and other urban centers.

What believers are saying

  • Swoop raised $7.3 million on April 23, 2026 from Long Journey and Variant.
  • Version One said Swoop became Eswatini's largest ecommerce platform with 22,000+ users.
  • Swoop's website advertises transparent ₦550 delivery and ₦168 service fees, supporting trust positioning.

What critics are saying

  • Yaba already hosts Chowdeck, Glovo, and FoodCourt, compressing customer acquisition economics.

  • If Lagos users reject another delivery app, Swoop's super-app expansion dies before payments launch.

What makes Swoop unique

  • Swoop launched in Yaba, Lagos in April 2026 with upfront fees and local payments.
  • It targets non-users first, not Chowdeck customers, according to BusinessDay on July 8, 2026.

UNILAG partners Swoop on safer, affordable food delivery for students.

UNILAG partners Swoop on safer, affordable food delivery for students. The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has selected Swoop as one of only two food delivery platforms approved to operate under a new campus programme designed to strengthen student safety, security and rider accountability while preserving access to convenient and affordable food delivery. The three-month pilot introduces a more controlled approach to food delivery on campus in response to concerns about the growing number of unregistered delivery riders entering the university and the implications for security, student welfare and campus orderliness. Under the new system, food delivery access will be limited to a pool of registered and identifiable riders operating through the university's approved platforms. As part of the partnership, Swoop will work closely with the university's security unit to ensure that participating riders are registered, identifiable and accountable. The company will also collaborate with the Dean of Student Affairs to ensure student welfare remains central to the programme. "We are pleased to have been selected by UNILAG as one of the two platforms supporting this important programme," said Demola Adesina, Country Manager for Swoop and a UNILAG alum himself. "The university has been very clear that student safety and security are the priority, and we share that responsibility. "Having studied at UNILAG myself, I'm deeply invested in creating a solution that makes our campus safer and more convenient. "Our focus is to ensure that every Swoop rider operating on campus is properly registered, identifiable and accountable, while giving students continued access to convenient and affordable food delivery." The pilot reflects UNILAG's effort to balance two important needs: maintaining a safe and orderly campus while recognising that food delivery has become an important convenience for many students. Beyond security and rider accountability, the partnership is also designed to give students a more transparent delivery experience. Through Swoop, customers can see applicable delivery and service charges before confirming an order and track their order in real time from the restaurant to its destination. Swoop's operating model is designed to create value across the delivery ecosystem. Riders retain 100 per cent of their delivery fees, while merchants benefit from lower platform fees, allowing them to retain more value from their orders. Restaurants can also access customers beyond their immediate locations through the platform. For Swoop, being selected for the UNILAG programme is an opportunity to demonstrate how technology and responsible delivery operations can work together to make food delivery safer and more accountable without sacrificing the convenience students value. "Safety and convenience should go hand in hand," Adesina added. "This pilot gives us an opportunity to demonstrate that food delivery can be convenient and affordable while still meeting the high standards of accountability expected within a university community. "We understand the responsibility that comes with being an approved platform and are committed to working closely with UNILAG throughout the programme." The partnership also reflects Swoop's broader ambition to make on-demand delivery more accessible to more Nigerians. The company believes growing the market requires addressing not only affordability and pricing transparency, but also the trust and accountability that consumers and institutions expect from delivery platforms. The three-month pilot will provide a framework for assessing how a managed food delivery system can strengthen campus security while preserving students' access to convenient and affordable food delivery. Building Trust in health advertising with privacy compliance.

Building Trust in health advertising with privacy compliance. What's essential for modern, compliant health campaigns. When done correctly and following relevant regulations, pharmaceutical advertising can equip consumers with the knowledge they need to better understand their condition and treatment options. In the U.S., consumers are taking a larger role in the decisions of their treatment options, and a Swoop survey found that 83 percent of consumers with chronic conditions find pharmaceutical advertisements beneficial. Evolving state regulations are redefining what it means to target audiences based on sensitive personal information like health data. A major misconception is that AdTech companies track every consumer move online. In reality, responsible marketers work to find audiences using privacy-safe, deidentified, and aggregated data. In this panel session from the 2026 NAI Summit, "Responsible Health Audience Targeting: Compliance, Trust, and Data Use," Swoop Chief Privacy Officer and General Counsel Ben Chapman, moderator Ken Dreifach, Assistant General Counsel at PulsePoint Jessica Hoffman, and General Counsel at DeepIntent Rob Engel highlighted critical strategies for pharma marketers and publishers to streamline compliance under evolving state privacy laws while continuing to empower consumers with vital health information. This panel is meant to be an informative discussion between experts and should not be considered legal advice. Improving Patient Outcomes Swoop improves patient outcomes by connecting the signals that drive earlier diagnosis, better treatment decisions, and sustained adherence. The integrated, privacy-by-design platform enables life sciences companies to drive measurable patient and commercial outcomes with actionable intelligence - spanning patient and HCP audience targeting, community engagement, AI-powered web solutions, coordinated omnichannel activation, and prescription fulfillment.

From anecdote to evidence: how patient insights drive innovation and success for Rare Disease brands.

From anecdote to evidence: how patient insights drive innovation and success for Rare Disease brands. Why "insomnia" vs. "disturbed nocturnal sleep" makes all the difference in narcolepsy care. Clinical definitions and brand messaging often fail to capture the invisible burdens of living with a rare disease. This disconnect can lead to misdiagnosis, stigma, and missed opportunities to shorten the patient's journey to the right treatment. Patient insights reveal critical gaps between clinical trial protocols and real-world patient experiences. By collaborating with Swoop Communities by MyHealthTeam on multiple studies involving social listening and patient surveys, Avadel expanded their understanding of patient language and experiences. At the 2026 Rare Disease Summit, former SVP of Medical Affairs at Avadel Jennifer Goodman and Co-founder and President of MyHealthTeam and Swoop Chief Patient Officer Eric Peacock discussed the critical importance of listening to patients and the research studies informing medical affairs strategies, clinical trial design, and commercial approaches. Watch the Video "There is nothing that beats hearing directly from people who are living with a rare disorder," Jennifer said. One research project debunked a common narcolepsy misconception: That Narcolepsy Type Two (NT2) is less severe than Narcolepsy Type One (NT1). The findings challenged the status quo for the therapeutic area and unlocked better treatment options for patients. In another research project, Avadel discovered the importance of using the same lexicon as patients. While the manufacturer and healthcare providers (HCPs) used the term "disturbed nocturnal sleep", many patients participating in surveys found it foreign. However, when using the colloquial term "insomnia," patients identified with the symptom more clearly. This disconnect in terminology may have led to delayed diagnoses, as primary care physicians might not immediately associate insomnia with narcolepsy. "It was eye opening to the clinicians that our field medical team engaged with," Jennifer said. "And it was really validating to the patient community because they felt like they weren't being heard when they would talk about that symptom." Alignment starts with the true patient experience. Beyond the research findings, Eric and Jennifer shared how aligning medical affairs and brand teams around the true patient experience can improve diagnosis, adherence, and care across any therapeutic area. "My philosophy in leading medical affairs has always been that you have a responsibility to the community to continue to generate data that's going to be meaningful to clinicians who are making prescribing decisions that will impact patients and meaningful to the patient community," Jennifer said. "And that is one of the places where our partnership was so lovely. We were able to continue to generate meaningful data." By making the patient voice part of a manufacturer's organizational DNA and bridging the gap between medical affairs and commercial teams through evidence-based patient research, Swoop Inc. can improve patient experiences and health outcomes. Transforming Omnichannel Swoop is a market leader in privacy-safe, award-winning omnichannel healthcare marketing solutions. Its platform connects patients, HCPs, and brands at scale across all channels, delivering unmatched engagement and proximity to patients throughout their health journey. By combining AI-driven technology with real-world data (RWD), first- and zero-party data, and engagement data, Swoop empowers pharma marketers to make faster, more precise decisions that improve patient outcomes.
