eBay stock is trending after hours: here's why.

eBay stock is trending after hours: here's why. Stock score locked: want to see it? Benzinga Rankings give you vital metrics on any stock - anytime. eBay Inc. (NASDAQ:EBAY) shares are trending on Friday. Shares of the California-based e-commerce platform inched 0.24% higher to $123.20 in after-hours trading on Thursday. In the regular session, the stock closed at $122.91, up 5.16%, according to Benzinga Pro data. Attention on the stock comes as Wall Street is divided over eBay ahead of its third-quarter earnings report. Morgan Stanley names eBay Top Pick on Live commerce. Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS) analyst Nathan Feather recently raised his price target to $132 from $127, kept an Overweight rating and named eBay his Top Pick, according to The Fly, as cited by TradingView. Feather said U.S. live commerce has grown more than fivefold to $27 billion over two years. He estimated eBay Live accounted for at least 40% of fiscal 2026 gross merchandise volume (GMV) growth. GMV is the total value of paid transactions on a marketplace, including shipping fees and taxes, before returns. Earlier this week, Wells Fargo analyst Ken Gawrelski cut his price target to $91 from $92 and kept an Underweight rating. Secondhand shopping shifts from occasional to routine. The stock move also followed eBay's release of "eight surprising things" from its 2026 Recommerce Report, published last week. According to eBay, the report, based on a survey of more than 10,000 secondhand shoppers and 1,700 eBay sellers, points to rising consumer demand for secondhand goods. The survey found that 47% of consumers buy pre-owned goods at least monthly, up from 35% in 2025. The habit is stronger among younger buyers. Among 18- to 29-year-olds, 46% shop secondhand weekly or biweekly, compared with 28% across all age groups, according to eBay. Cost pressures also play a role. Seventy percent of respondents said buying secondhand is important to managing household expenses, rising to 76% among Gen Z. Trading metrics, technical analysis. eBay has a market capitalization of $54.69 billion, a 52-week high of $124.59 and a 52-week low of $78.03. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) of EBAY stands at 78.43. The stock has gained roughly 35% over the past 12 months. eBay shifts focus from tariffs to eBay Live and Depop as Q2 revenue jumps 14.8%

eBay's management has shifted its message from trade policy worries to growth products. On the fiscal Q2 2026 call on August 5, 2026, it highlighted eBay Live, where gross merchandise volume grew roughly eightfold, and said eBay had completed its acquisition of Depop the week before. In April 2025, management stressed tariff uncertainty for sellers and buyers. It still called trade policy increasingly complex on April 29, 2026. Revenue grew 14.8% in the April to June 2026 quarter, up from 6.1% a year earlier. Operating margin rose to 21.6% from 17.5%. The stock trades at 4.3 times trailing sales, against 3.1 for the S&P 500. Revenue growth peaked at 19.5% in the January to March quarter. eBay is expected to report its next results around October 27, 2026.

eBay shares up 34.9% this year to $116 as profit margin climbs to 17.6%

eBay shares have returned 34.9% including dividends since January 1, 2026, rising from $87.1 to $116. Investors had weighed a bullish recommerce and AI story against fears that younger shoppers would drift to rivals. The bullish case implied a fair value of $102, based on revenue growth of 7.7% a year. The bearish case implied $50, assuming growth of 4.2% a year and margin pressure. Results favour the bulls so far. Revenue rose from $2,730m in the second quarter of 2025 to $3,134m in the second quarter of 2026, while net margin climbed from 13.4% to 17.6%. At $116, the price sits above the bullish fair value. Buyers now assume growth in focus categories, advertising and live commerce will turn into steady profit, despite costs from Depop and buyer protections.

Stock market midday, oct. 12: Dow edges higher as investors rotate into value stocks. Gold was trading at $4,192.70, down 0.56% as of 11:31 a.m. ET, while the 10-Year Treasury yield edged up to 5.24% as names in communication services lead sector gainers and technology and utilities trade lower. Today's biggest moves. eBay (EBAY +3.84%) shares are surging today after being named a top analyst pick, while Figs (FIGS +11.28%) has jumped 8.5% following a positive industry review. Conversely, Bloom Energy (BE -7.91%) is down 6.7% after announcing its earnings release date, and Nvidia (NVDA -1.23%) is teetering near support levels as semiconductor momentum slows. What this means for investors. Mixed news over the weekend has traders shunning riskier tech stocks in early trading Monday, while the S&P 500 index is little changed. President Trump announced actions in recent days aimed at driving down oil and diesel prices, but oil prices were still moving higher. After a premarket drop in oil, investors became skeptical that attempts for an "energy ceasefire" between Ukraine and Russia will have much effect as the conflict in the Middle East continues to escalate. Crude oil rose to $106 per barrel, with important inflation data scheduled for release this week. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for September will be announced on Wednesday, followed by the Producer Price Index on Thursday. Howard Smith has positions in Nvidia.
