Requirements
  • 3–5 years of experience in technical product management or a closely adjacent role, such as implementation engineering, solutions engineering, or integration product management, in a business-to-business software-as-a-service environment.
  • Use artificial intelligence tools fluently in daily work to draft communications, investigate problems, synthesize information, and reduce repetitive effort, with the judgment to identify where artificial intelligence helps and where it falls short.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage external technical stakeholders, run scoping calls with partner engineering teams, hold partners to timelines, and escalate diplomatically when needed.
  • Strong understanding of representational state transfer application programming interfaces, including request and response cycles, schema structures, authentication patterns, and API documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for external-facing status updates, internal change-management documents, and technical scoping summaries.
  • Ability to move between technical depth and business context, including debugging connectivity issues and explaining schema changes to carrier partners' business teams.
Responsibilities
  • Own the lifecycle of Herald's carrier markets end to end.
  • Own the Placement System, Herald's platform for managing a commercial submission from intake through bind.
  • Monitor connectivity health by catching unhandled cases, improper rejects, and authentication issues before they become user-facing problems.
  • Serve as the external-facing project manager for new integration builds with carrier partners, from technical scoping through quality assurance and launch.
  • Triage and resolve connectivity, workflow, and data issues, and communicate status clearly to carrier and implementation partners.
  • Handle product configuration, producer onboarding, and related stakeholder questions.
  • Negotiate roadmap changes with carriers, coordinate updates with implementation partners, and manage the internal process as the API schema and workflows evolve.
  • Launch new carrier integrations by managing technical scoping, build coordination, testing, and go-live.
  • Scope and audit workflows to improve messaging quality.
  • Improve integration self-healing and monitoring-to-resolution pipelines.
  • Identify and scope agentic workflows that automate high-frequency, low-judgment tasks in the integration lifecycle, including issue triage, partner status updates, and producer onboarding steps.
  • Identify where artificial intelligence and agentic workflows can be applied across the integration surface and work with engineering to implement them.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in commercial insurance, insurtech, or a closely adjacent vertical, including familiarity with carrier-distribution dynamics and quoting, submission, and binding workflows.
  • Prior experience at a company building workflow automation, document processing, or artificial-intelligence-assisted tools for enterprise users.
  • Experience designing or scoping artificial-intelligence-assisted or agentic workflows, including evaluating AI outputs in operational contexts and building processes that keep humans appropriately in the loop.
  • Familiarity with representational state transfer application programming interfaces, including reading API documentation, understanding technical feasibility, and discussing integration design with engineers.
  • Prior startup experience at a Series A–C company, including operating with lean support structures and building processes where none exist.

Herald offers a digital infrastructure platform for the commercial insurance market. It provides a single API through which insurance companies and their partners can quote and bind policies from more than sixty carriers, reducing the time to market for new products. The API comes with extensive documentation and support, helping clients integrate quickly and focus on improving customer experiences. Herald also helps clients connect to digital-distribution sources and add new partners without long implementation efforts, offering insights into the distribution ecosystem. Revenue comes from charging clients for API access and related services. Unlike providers that sell standalone workflow solutions, Herald supplies the infrastructure that carriers and partners use to deliver insurance experiences to customers. Overall, Herald’s goal is to simplify multi-carrier integration, enable embedded insurance experiences, and expand digital distribution in the commercial insurance space.
