About the company

Aerwave provides managed Wi-Fi as a service for multifamily properties, installing a building-wide fiber backbone and a proprietary mesh network to deliver instant-on, gigabit internet everywhere. Residents access a private, secure network with VLAN-based privacy and per-user encryption, usable across apartments and common spaces without individual routers. Property owners retain most of the internet revenue, with options like AerPays that enable no-capital, flat-monthly payments. The platform acts as a Digital Foundation for the building’s tech stack, supporting smart devices and services, and can retrofit existing properties, integrate into new builds, or take over current infrastructure.

  • Aerwave launched Wi-Fi 7 at AvalonBay Kanso Twinbrook in June 2026.
  • Aerwave joined the 2026 Inc. 5000, signaling sustained revenue growth.
  • April 2026 case studies at Gables Riverwalk and Knightvest showcase repeatable NOI wins.

What critics are saying

  • Gigstreem integration after September 2, 2026 can disrupt service, churn accounts, and distract management.
  • Cable, fiber, and building-automation vendors keep undercutting Aerwave on bundled pricing and procurement.
  • A failed post-merger systems rollout would damage resident trust and kill Aerwave's managed-WiFi thesis.

What makes Aerwave unique

  • Its AerPays model turns resident internet into owner NOI without upfront capital.
  • The September 2026 Gigstreem combination creates broader national scale and execution depth.

Aerwave launches first Wi-Fi 7 community with AvalonBay at Kanso Twinbrook

Aerwave has launched its first Wi-Fi 7 community at AvalonBay's Kanso Twinbrook in Rockville, Maryland. The deployment brings next-generation wireless technology to a property operating without a traditional leasing office, relying instead on digital-first, self-service operations. Wi-Fi 7 delivers significantly higher speeds, lower latency and greater capacity than previous standards, supporting bandwidth-intensive applications and multiple simultaneous device connections. At Kanso Twinbrook, the technology underpins self-touring, virtual tours, remote support and smart building features including electronic locks and package lockers. The property exemplifies AvalonBay's tech-forward approach to apartment living, where residents manage applications, maintenance requests and building access digitally. Aerwave's managed Wi-Fi platform provides the connectivity infrastructure essential to this operating model, positioning the community for future resident expectations.
