Jordan Bates joins WPP Media as Commerce Director in UK.

Jordan Bates joins WPP Media as Commerce Director in UK. Jordan Bates has joined WPP Media as Commerce Director in the UK, taking on a role focused on commerce and retail media. Bates Describing the appointment as the start of a new role at WPP Media. He also noted that his work will involve bringing retail media initiatives to life alongside teams across the business. The appointment comes as commerce has become an increasingly important part of the media and advertising landscape. Retail media networks are expanding beyond traditional sponsored placements, giving brands new ways to reach consumers closer to the point of purchase. For agencies, this has created a need for specialists who understand the relationship between media, commerce, retailers and consumer behaviour. Bates' new position at WPP Media places commerce within a broader media planning and activation environment. The role is particularly relevant as marketers look to connect advertising activity with measurable commercial outcomes across retailer websites, marketplaces and other digital commerce environments. Retail media is also becoming more closely connected with the wider marketing technology ecosystem. First-party data, audience targeting, measurement and commerce platforms are increasingly being brought together as brands seek a clearer view of how media activity contributes to customer journeys and sales. For agencies, this shift is changing how commerce teams work with traditional media disciplines. Retail media can now influence planning, audience strategy and measurement rather than operating as a separate channel. Bates' move therefore reflects a wider industry trend: commerce is becoming more integrated into media strategies as brands navigate fragmented customer journeys and the growing number of retail media opportunities. His appointment adds commerce leadership to WPP Media's UK operations at a time when retail media continues to develop as a significant area within advertising and marketing.

Rishabh Kumar joins WPP Media as Manager - Programmatic.

Rishabh Kumar joins WPP Media as Manager - Programmatic. Rishabh Kumar has joined WPP Media as Manager - Programmatic, taking on a role focused on programmatic media within the agency's digital advertising operations. The move comes as programmatic advertising continues to play an important role in how brands buy and optimize digital media. Automated buying now spans a growing range of environments, including display, video, connected TV, mobile, and other digital channels. Programmatic teams sit at the intersection of media strategy, audience data, technology, and campaign execution. Their responsibilities can include campaign setup, audience targeting, optimization, performance monitoring, and working with demand-side platforms and other advertising technology. Kumar's move to WPP Media comes as the programmatic ecosystem continues to change. Artificial intelligence and machine learning are increasingly being incorporated into bidding, audience analysis, forecasting, optimization, and campaign management. These developments are changing how media teams evaluate performance and make decisions during campaigns. Data and privacy are also influencing programmatic advertising. Changes to third-party identifiers and the growing importance of first-party data are encouraging advertisers and agencies to reassess how audiences are targeted and measured. Contextual signals and alternative data approaches are becoming increasingly relevant as the industry adapts. Measurement remains another challenge. With advertisers running campaigns across multiple platforms and environments, marketers are looking for greater transparency into media performance, audience reach, and the relationship between advertising investment and business outcomes. For programmatic professionals, this creates a role that extends beyond campaign execution. Understanding platforms, data, audience strategy, measurement, and emerging technologies is increasingly important for managing modern digital advertising programs. Kumar's appointment reflects the continued development of programmatic expertise within media agencies as advertisers navigate an increasingly automated and fragmented digital ecosystem. For the wider MarTech and AdTech landscape, the move highlights the ongoing convergence of media buying, data, AI, and advertising technology. As programmatic expands into new channels and becomes more sophisticated, professionals responsible for managing these systems remain an important part of the digital advertising ecosystem. Kumar's move adds to the growing pool of programmatic talent within WPP Media as the industry continues to adapt to changes in technology, privacy, and digital media consumption.
